Derek if the drum bloating whilst mixing methoxide is a concern, have a look at this http://www.biofuelsforum.com/making_biodiesel/59-useful_cap_tap_inserted_20_ltr_drums.html posting in regard to a screw on cap with a tap included. Using this you could vent the pressure away via a pipe away from you.
