Thats a bit harse,and maybe a little unfounded. I know of a guy who runs A 2H in a Landcruiser, thats says that when he turns on his hydrogen cell he can cruise on the highway at idol.

SO that means he doesn't need to press the accelerator and he cruises at 110-120.

That would surely dramatically reduce the fuel consumption.

It should also be mentioned that he runs a specially REBUILT engine as the hydrogen ruined his first one. He had it rebuilt with steel pistons and stainless valves. He said the pistons where pitted and blown right through and the valves where burned and didn't seat properly.
