Biodiesel in my case i would tune it just for that. If biodiesel runs so well in a engine meant for Diesel then i'm sure that diesel will run well in a engine setup for biodiesel. |
I think we are only tinkering at the edges and Nick is right. Maybe we might get 1 or 2 horsepower difference by optimising pump timing for a particular fuel. Lets say we ger 50 hp from engine 'A' when timing is optimised for petrodiesel and running on that. It might get say 48 hp on Bio for the same setting and may get 50 on Bio after timing optimised for Bio and then drop to 48 on petrodiesel on those settings. That's the sort of differences I am expecting and it makes sense to me to optimise for the fuel most used in each application and live with the probably imperceptible loss on the other fuel.
I will be optimising both of my 2 tank vehicles for veg and am sure they will run just fine on Bio or petrodiesel at those settings.
If I was running Bio most of the time I would optimise for that, being confident that it would run just fine on petrodiesel.
