  • 2 new events - Biodiesel Forum 2005 in Oct

Please see the calendar for more information on these events.

Is anyone planning on going? I'd be interested to know. I'm still mulling up whether to shell out the $285 for the Sydney one. It does look interesting, though.

Whoever does go, I'd appreciate it if any reports of the event could be posted up here and/or on sydneybiodiesel.com.

I think if we could post up any announcements made, summaries of presentations, presented material etc, it could be beneficial to all.

I would be interested but $285?? YEEK! I could put that to good use toward bio making equipment and supplies.
To be honest, when I looked at the program I had some doubts as to how much I would learn in the practical sense as against hearing a lot of political and " visionary" talk.

I was wondering about the Bio fueled ferry ride... I thought that it was a well proven and known fact that Bio does work! Maybe that is to convert the disbelievers.

Re: 2 new events - Biodiesel Forum 2005 in Oct

I think this one is more aimed at industry than at we small folk. However, they have been kind enough last week to invite me along, so I will be sure to grab as much info as I can while I'm there and report on it here so the rest of us may also benefit from it.

Perhaps much of this will be "preaching to the converted" as we all know how good biodiesel is, but it will be good to get a "rev up". The fuel and the cause desperately needs more promotion in Australia.

The ferry ride is to show off the fact that Sydney Ferries have recently run an official biodiesel trial. Sure, we all know that biodiesel works and is perfect for marine environments, but they wanted to do it properly, with proper exhaust emmissions analysing equipment fitted etc. I hope to put up a story on the sydneybiodiesel.com site about this in the near future.

Watch this space for more info later this week.

Well I've been but I have not yet collated all the notes I made into anything printable here yet. I'll do this over the next week or so.

You can also see a little announcement on it I posted up on www.sydneybiodiesel.com.

Clean Fuels Australia & Biodiesel - Article Posted

Well, this is hardly newsworthy anymore, as it is now quite old news. I'm afraid I've been a bit of a slacker and not written up the articles I'd promised as quickly as I'd said.

Anyway, Cecilia of Clean Up Australia, who spoke there has been kind enough to send me her presentation and notes, which made it easy for me to write this up:

          http://www.sydneybiodiesel.com/content/view/59/2/

As time goes by, I will also be summarising the presentations made by the other speakers and posting them up. Once I have them all, I'll make a summary page and link each presentation from that. I'm not making any promises this time about how quickly I'll do this. (I'd make a terrible journalist)

At least then all the ordinary folk who didn't pay their $285 might be able to read what went on.

            Hi Rob,
Good to see on the Syd users site the stuff about Cecila. from C.U.A, at the BAA conference
Do you remember me suggesting to her (at the BAA conference) that C.U.A should draft up policy to hassle Macdonalds and KFC and similar franchise corporate restaurants to direct all of their WVO to manufacturers of BD.
What happened about that?? She seemed enthusiastic at the time , I remember her imidiatly scribling notes on a pad while muttering "Yes yes yes"..
Would love to chase that one up, if you have her details, I didnt take notes (of her details) as i remember thinking "i'll believe it (corporate franchise being humane) when i see it."

Cecilia's been pretty cool with getting us info and even gave me a lead for some WCO in Melbourne once (but it got snapped up before it could be announced in the forum).
I've still got her details, so I'll pass them onto you when I see you next week and we can chase her up to see if they've done anything specifically about this.
