  • JanWarnqvist's test goes pink & cloudy?

Can anyone tell me what it means if the 9:1 test goes pink? What does this indicate the presence of. What does cloudiness indicate the presence of? Water? I tried adding acid & alkali to methanol to see if it was a litmus sort of thing & it isnt. After a couple of hours it all cleared up & the pink went away & about 0.3% of the volume settled out in a few drops at the bottom of the beaker. After the 3:27 test showed pink I did a 225:25 test so I would get measurable quantities of whatever was causing this

    Hello Rafe

The Warnqvest test is a solubility test.
Biodiesel is soluble in methanol and Veggie oil is not.
The pink was probably from the colour of the biodiesel.

I have noticed that if the biodiesel isnt dry it will cloud up the methanol
