    guys
    can i use the inlet side of my compressor as a vaccum source for methanol recovery?

    there is no reason why a normal compressor cannot be used to develop a vacuum.
    Generally, you should only use it to provide vacuum OR pressure, at one time. So you would need to have valves on the suction and pressure sides to allow air or vacuum to be drawn in, and pressure or vent the outlet.

      Remember to use a vacuum oil, not ordinary compressor oil. It is available in places that sell refrigeration supplies.

      And for goodness sake, DO NOT attempt to use the machine to compress air once you've used it as a vacuum pump!

      Vacuum pumps suck stuff in, obviously, and if you then use your pump as a compressor, that stuff will go into your compressor tank and you are setting yourself up for an explosion. Oil is especially bad and I don't like to think about any sort of diesel or methanol in a tank of hot, high pressure air.
