  • Using BD in cold climtes(Sthn NSW)

    Hi all.
Just started using biodiesel on my HZJ75. Im currently buying blended biodiesel from a servo at Marulen, which is 80% norm diesel 20% BD. I live in Sthn NSW and the winters get down to below 0 over night here. Will the blended BD be ok, or do I have to add something during the cold winter months?

Any info would be welcome as I am new to using BD.

    Thanks

    Angus
    Have a nice day. :)

    Angus,
If you are confident that the fuel you are buying meets Astralian Standards, Your only concern should be the cloud point, but you may have times where free water % is a concern as ice crystals.

As a precaution, test the cloud point of a sample of the fuel in the refridgerator. This will tell you howcold you cxan use the oil, before filter plugging becomes and issue.

Actually I just joined here to find out if there are any tips about bio-fuel which will not gel above-40. My interest is in aviation. All jet fuel is certified to -40 Celsius and basically it is finely cut viscous kerosene.
