  • Editing Biodiesel finder entries

I just made an entry on the biodiesel finder map, but stuffed it up, and am unable to edit it to correct the mistake.

Anyone know how I can fix it?

FWIW, the entry is Volume Plus Forestville, which ended up in the centre of Aust, rather than in Forestville NSW.

    Re: Editing Biodiesel finder entries

    Suzy,
I have done this before (ended up in the same place), as has Darren and others.
I tried to recall how I did it, but I think that you should display the biodiesel finder map and click on List Elements.

The entries are listed along with the ones you entered. On the RHS column, you should click on Edit
This will allow you to enter the correct coordinates for the servo.

You could also enter a new one and delete the first entry.

    Hope this helps,
    Tony

      Re: Editing Biodiesel finder entries

      Hi Suzy, Tony,

There is a bit of a shortfall in the way the map handles editing entries once they are made. It is to do with user permissions. There are limited levels of permissions I can set to prevent any registered user editing another's markers. (See my last post in this thread).

The short answer is that there is no way you can edit an entry once you've made it (unless you are a moderator, in which case you have permission to do so). So, the easiest way is to just add another marker, then send a request to a moderator to delete your old one.

If you want to have another go at adding a marker, have a read of this post which may help you.

If anyone is curious, this is how the permissions work:

      Unregistered users: can view
Registered users: can view and add
Moderators/Administrators: can view, add, edit and delete.

One day I will improve the way the map works, but for now, it'll have to do.
      Robert.
