  • New To Biofuels

    Hi,

I am totally new to biofuels and I have a few questions. I currently have a 'N reg' Nissan Mistral (about 12 years old). This is a Japanese import and the equivilent of the Terrano 2 in Europe. Its a 2.7 Turbo Diesel. I live in Teesside in the U.K.

I am interested in trying biofuels and I have a few questions.

    1) What type of biofuel should I try?

    2) Where is the best place to buy this?

    3) What do I need to add to the fuel and in what quantity? (Glycerin?)

    4) Where can I buy this?

    5) Anything else I should be aware of/need to buy/check?

    6) Am I asking these questions in the right place or is there somewhere else I need to look or might find useful?

    Thank you.

    Re: New To Biofuels

    Welcome to the forum.

The only biofuel suitable for a diesel is biodiesel

Not sure where in the UK you can buy Biodiesel

Start by putting a filter in the fuel line so you can filter any gunk that will travel down the fuel line when you put biodiesel in.

You might to start by putting 20% biodiesel in and monitoring performance then increasing to 50% then 100%

If it gets cold in your area you may want to check that you can start in cold conditions. Biodiesel can gel or solidify in very cold conditions.

Take care and let us know your progress.
