I've found an ideal size reaction vessel, being an old fuel tank. Only problem is its made from aluminium. Is there any problem in using aluminium reaction vessels for manufacturing biodiesel (given that they are used to hold petrol, diesel and other oils)? Has any work been done using aluminium in reaction vessels?

    Look forward to your feedback.....

PS there are a number of other threads regarding reaction vessels (eg propane gas cylinders, methanol drums), maybe they can all be collated under the one thread.

    Hello Steamer

Unfortunatly NaOH and KOH do not get along with Aluminium at all. The life expectancy of the tank would be very limited.
