  • Flat Plate Heat Exchanger on eBay

Yes, this is an adveryt for one of my postings, but I have just sourced this 20 plate copper brazed FPHE and I am seeing how much need there is for this unit, to see if I should get a supply in.
    what do you think?
    Here it is:
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160011683841&ssPa geName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=006

The Kaori 10 plate nickel brazed FPHE that WARFA have bought in for members is only half the size of this unit (twice the # of plates) so this one should betwice as efficient, given the same coolant and flow conditions.

Would anyone care to provide me some input on whether to sell these?

The Kaori ones from AHTT (Oz Kaori agents) have been quoted at >$300 each.

Tony, you actually linked to one of your bag filter auctions. The correct link is here

Good luck with it, I hope you get enough interest to start selling them.

I'm interested in one. I don't know whether a 20 plate HE would be overkill for the rate of fuel going through it into my 2.8 4cyl, but I'm sure it couldn't hurt.

            Hi Tony

I have the 26-plate version, which works nicely, but concede that a smaller one would do just as good a job due to the relatively slow flow of fuel compared to coolant. While I was able to fit the 26 plate HE vertically behind the headlight of my 300D, a smaller unit would have been easier, and still do an equally good job.

I've also been considering the possibility of installing another small one just before the IP as an extra heating boost, but the thought of all the extra plumbing is scary! I suppose they could be linked in series without too much loss of heat from one HE to the other, and this would be tidier. However, in my situation here in Maitland, the temps are rarely cold enough in winter to justify any more heating, but those in colder areas might consider that.

For a single HE setup, I think the 20 plate such as you have there would hit the sweet spot in terms of bang for buck.
            Cheers
            Bruce

I realized that prices gone up over the years, but $300 was for what model? brazing material? material of the plates?
I'm sure there are less expensive alternatives on a market.

for example: 20-plate Heat Exchanger / Chiller (3/4" MNPT)

I Just got around to installing the one I got from you ages ago Geoff and it seems to be a ripper. I hope to do a few more as they are really good value. What is the biggest one you have, or could they be added together for a medium ridged truck.

                    regards

Re: Flat Plate Heat Exchanger on eBay

The 30 plate units are pretty good all round, there is no reason not to have multiples of these in the system eg in straight vegetable oil systems some like to install a HE before the filters and also before the IP

Having said that I think that 1 by 30 is more than adequate for the majority of applications. Once your vehicle is up to operating temperature these units transfer a lot of heat.
