Question Need a place to decant for our biodiesel purchasing group

Now that our Sydney Biodiesel Purchasing Group have organised our first pick-up of commercially produced biodiesel, we have discovered that we will not be able to distribute it amongst ourselves at the place that we collect it from. Rather, we will only be able to buy a quantity of biodiesel in drums to take off site and share amongst ourselves.

As such, we are urgently seeking a location to use while we decant from the drums into our vehicles or containers.

Our members are currently discussing this issue in our own private thread. If you would like to be a member of our group (free), just register your interest in this thread, or if you just want to offer us a location, or some suggestion about where we may find a good decanting location, then please reply here.

Ideally, we are looking for something centrally located that has a concrete floor. It would be convenient, though not essential that 5 or 6 drums may be stored there overnight. Obviously, there would need to be good vehicle access and preferably good parking onsite.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Need a place to decant for our biodiesel purchasing group

Hi Robert,
i don't know if this has been sorted yet but I could suggest that Marrickville Community Centre (Addison Road). There is a place in the back corner (south west) which is the concrete foundation of a former structure no longer standing. Cars can access this area. It is not secure in the sense of Lock up shed but the Centre itself does have a resident caretaker. Not sure who to speak to but my husband is involved with the Casa Latinamerica there so I can find out more if required. Let me know.
Thanks,
Magda

Re: Need a place to decant for our biodiesel purchasing group

Thanks Magda,

We've actually found a decanting site for our last pickup (which happend last Friday). We've posted up the details of it in the private members only section of our forum, which would explain why you didn't see it, as I have it hidden presently. It was a church carpark in Glebe and it worked very well for our needs.

Still it is good to have other options available, so I'll contact you later if we do need to investigate using the site you suggested.

Thanks for posting here.

Cheers,
