Still put off by the auto trans. My son has just contracted to buy a Hilux Surf 2.0 TD. Performance is dismal. Down the track I will get another diesel to replace our LPG ute. Don't want an automatic so I guess MB is out. Maybe Peugot 505 or even 504. Most probably a Surf 3.0 TD then add intercooler.
Anyone got any other suggestions for a manual rear wheel drive diesel smaller than a Landcruiser/Patrol? Don't really want a ute, even dual cab.

Re: 300D for Sale

You call that Bling?!! You ain't seen nothing yet! The full painful episode of "Pimp My Ride" can be seen here. I have and it made me want to cry!

Paul, the W123 was superseded by the W124 in the mid 80's was never sold in Oz in 300D form, although there are a few (very rare and expensive) grey imports around. But like almost all Mercs they tend to be autos too.

I met a guy with a W123 coupe with a manual gearbox and a diesel engine transplanted from a 240D and aftermarket turbo fitted. Very nice, but you're never going to find one in the classifieds!

Re: 300D for Sale

Paul, I have a beautifully converted surf. So it can be done!

There are a few probs with them though. They do have a habbit of overheating that I have been warned about. And they are just SOOO chocka block with extra's it can be a pain. There is no room to move under the bonnet

But I LOVE my car. And the size is perfect for me!

XoXOXO
