Re: Fuel Tank Valve Selector WVO,SVO,Biodiesel

Greeting from www.omarsales.com

We just wanted to send you a note about the WVO valve with viton seals.

Some folks have asked if the the WVO valve can be rebuilt or the viton seal changed.

We are happy to report that we have replacement viton seals in stock if you need a set or two. The cost is $7.95 per set of viton WVO valve seal postage paid. You can order them on our website www.omarsales.com or we can Paypal you an invoice if you like.

Some of the things that have happened to the WVO valve in road tests are:

Seals were damaged or stuck open because of fuel hose debris or other debris in a new WVO install. Work around: put a small, temporary 10-micron filter before the WVO valve, flush your WVO system and make sure all the install debris is out of your WVO system.

Letting your WVO car or truck sit for a few weeks or months without use: On occasion some filtered WVO (soy WVO has a habit of sticking) will stick the seals together or gum up and glue the seals to the valve body. Most times you can disassemble the valve and use some degreaser on the seals and valve body to unstick your valve. Be careful of critters that like to chew WVO hoses and make a nest under your hood.

The WVO valve is a basic valve design— front and rear plate held to the valve body with 4 screws for each plate. Viton O rings seal the plates. You have a rear seal (large one) and a front seal (small one) installed on the tip of the valve stem. That is it. If for some reason your valve is not bubble-tight (no air or fluid should leak from port one or two), in most cases a piece of debris is logged in the valve seal. Usually, it only takes a few minutes to disassemble the valve and clear it. We have included a few photos of the valve seals for you in case you have to clear your WVO valve of debris.

Thank you and good luck with your WVO adventure!

Omar

Re: Fuel Tank Valve Selector WVO,SVO,Biodiesel

I got busy today and pulled the solenoids apart to see if gumming was part of my problem.

The first thing I noticed when I flicked the switch was that there was no audible "thwack" sound as normal. Anyway, pulled them apart and they were pretty sticky. I didn't find any gunk in the assembly but the valves certainly were sticky.

Put the whole lot back together and then flipped the switch on both. One clacked over, the other did not! After some initial consternation and a bit more switch flicking, they both worked as they should. I didn't use degreaser to clean the components as Omar suggested. Will wait and see if it plays up again.

After seeing this thread and having my ute conk out on me upon switching to veg a couple weeks ago, I decided to pull them apart.

It's pouring rain here and there is no sign of it easing up anytime soon. That's what you get for living in the tropics I guess. Once this subsides, I'll it out for a spin and see if it works again.
