bridgette1402 is an unknown quantity at this point
Titration (for PH}

Hi, again, hoping for a little information.
Has anyone used this method to get the PH of the washed Biodiesel. Is It accurate?
The method is the same as performing a titration,
except you use 1ml of Bio in place of 1ml of veg oil in the Isopropyl alcohol. Can you use tumeric instead of Phenolphthalein.

Re: Titration (for PH}

Bridgette,
Biodiesel should not respond to a Titration using a caustic titration solution using a pH 8 - 9 indicator.
If you have unwashed biodiesel which still has suspended byproduct or soaps dissolved in methanol, then you can test for the presence of soaps.
In this case, you would use a 1mL/1000mL acid titration solution and bromophenol blue indicator.

better yet, wash your biodiesel to remove byproduct and/or soap.
This will ensure that any alkaline compounds (eg Soaps and byproduct) will be washed out of your biodiesel.

Regards,
Tony
