Selling my 1982 Datsun (Nissan) MQ Patrol, as I never use it for what it was intended.

I had planned on making it into a camper of sorts (you can take the 2 rear seats out so it's a bit like a Toyota Landcruiser Troopy, only smaller) but never get enough days off in a row to do that...

4 x new Sumitomo 'Serengeti' All-Terrain tyres - purchased about 5 months ago and only done a few hundred km on them)

Fairly new (5 mnths old) Century extra heavy-duty batteries ($260 EACH!)
Front bull bar that suits a hi-mount winch
Rear bumper/swinging spare wheel carrier
Autotechnica sports steering wheel (original was very unroadworthy)
Recently changed engine oil & filter, replaced air & fuel filters as well
Put new seals in lift pump not long ago, plus new Bosch hand primer
10 spare new fuel filters
Heavy-duty 'tradesman'-style roof rack

Now it has some rust around roof guttering and bottom of a couple of doors, as well as l/h/r wheel arch. Doors and wheel arch have been roughly patched up with fibreglass filler as an interim thing. There are a couple of rust spots on the tailgate as well - see photo.

The electrics are 24v - has 2 batteries in series. I think they mainly did this to enable easier starting and if that's really the case, it works! I hadn't started it for about 6 weeks until yesterday. I got in, cycled the glow plugs 3 times (they only stay on for about 10 seconds each cycle - not sure if that's normal or not), turned the key and it started after a few cranks! That was on 100% bio as well.

There are a few issues with it - to be honest, it is pretty rough in an old 4-wheel drive kinda way.

Seats are pretty worn and torn in places, carpet stained in places. Some dash pieces missing.

Radio has seen better days, only 1 speaker works.

Rubber boot around gearstick has split a little.

Needs a new windscreen.

Suspension components are a bit sagged and some bushes are sloppy.

Paintwork a bit chalky and worn off in a couple of spots (see photos).

Rear tailgate glass handle is partially broken.

Has done a lot of k's, but seems to just tick along with no signs of stopping (but I really wouldn't know.)

Have run bio purchased form Fina Fuels in Thomastown in it since about June 08 both at full strength and in various ratios with diesel, as well as a short stint on WVO (maybe 2000km). Has no starting problems, even on B100 (well, it does blow white smoke sometimes esp when cold, but that's on diesel too).

I've had people drive behind me to check for smoke and apparently once the engine's warmed up, it's clear (but it puffs a bit at idle).

Being old and only having a 4 speed box, it's not the quickest thing on the road, but it'll get to over 100km/h no problem.
