I took the last one back and had a very poor response. The blame was put right on me despite glaring deformation of the bottom ring. It seems that because I did not check the drum before taking it that I had no comeback. And the seals were still intact.
I have now arranged another supply at Blackhill that was suggested to me by another ex Cardiff customer.

Hi All,

If any one happens to know where I can purchase a couple of 1 micron filter bags that are 4 inches in diameter and about 12-18 inches long, that would be great. I saw Tony's post before on the 7 inch jobbies, but alas they wont fit in the filter housing I made. I have managed to source a quote to have them made, but they are cost prohibitive. the last place I bought them from I paid 10 bucks per bag, but they have since closed down.:(

I live in Brissy so anything up this way would be great.

The old ones I have are falling apart, so I chopped the bottoms off and sewed them up, but I cant see this being a long term fix.:o

I have tried heaps of places but arent having any luck. Any help provided would be very much appreciated.

Hi All,
Well it was a long time coming but yesterday I finally finished the work on the Musso. The Sports (not Sorts as in title..couldnt workout how to edit it!) layout is different from the Musso wagons in that the battery is located in the front of the engine bay. At the rear is free space with just the bracket that the ABS is attached to on models that dont have a LSD like mine. This was a perfect place to mount the components after some additional brackets were added.

The Sports has a lift pump attached to the IP unlike the earlier model Mussos. I put an MB type prefilter, kindly supplied by MussoPete just before the lift pump. The line from the lift pump goes to the first HE which is in series with a second HE. This keeps the mods under pressure rather than suction.

Fuel runs from the second HE into the CAV filter next to it and then to the genuine fuel filter. I've got the CAV well insulated and its only a short run
from there to the musso filter so dont think there'll be any significant heat loss. I ran it for a while yesterday on just diesel and fixed a minor leak.It
started and ran fine. Had two thirds of a tank of diesel and topped tank up with wvo. Started it this morning with low temps and it started instantly. Confident there wont be any problems and will build up towards 50:50 during Winter if it continues to start and run okay.

Have to admit that in the pic it looks a little like a dog's breakfast but in the flesh its less so. Running the two FPHE's in series required a little more plumbing but despite appearances there is still a lot of room between the mods and the engine components.

Have to say a big thanks to all those who have kindly provided assistance. Firstly to Fitian whose good quality components originally installed in the Navara I've been able to reuse. MussoPete from the forum has patiently put up with my annoying questions as has Vegetator from the UK Ssangyong Owners Club who is an experienced VO user. Plus the forum of course.

Just a "heads up":

The recent run of outages from the current host have led me to take some steps to remedy this. I will be moving the forum to a better hosting provider in the coming weeks.

Additionally, I will probably also be upgrading the software that runs the forum, so it may look a little different, but it will still do the same job. (I thought if I have to go through the hassle of relocation, I may as well also do the upgrade at the same time).

I have just paid the for the upgraded license and I am hunting the hosts from my shortlist now. I will post again with an update when I have a plan and some details of the move. In the mean time, it could not hurt to click an ad or two, in here to help pay for this (or donate if you don't want to see the ads). ;)

I will post here before any moves to announce any disruption. I will try to keep downtime to a minimum, but if you see any over the coming weeks, please be patient. When the forum is moved, it should be faster and more reliable.

Cheers,

Greetings,

I'm doing some research on BD production to see if it is worth trying on my small farm. I am curious as to the yeild from the procedure. I figure that I will use NaOH and Methanol. I know the costs of collection and production but I need to figure out what my output and byproducts will be. Here is what I have managed to come up with as production #'s.

These are just basic #'s. I'm just trying to get estimates.
Input
100g oil
10g methanol
?? NaOH

Output:
100g BD
10g Glycerin

I know the glycerin is not pure as well. What toxins are locked up in this "sludge"? I have heard of people composting this but it seems like it might be a little more toxic than I would like.

Also, I understand that glycerin has a fairly decent energy rating and can be burnt. I also understand that there are toxins in this byproduct but am wondering how "toxic" they really are; people even say that CO2 is "toxic", so is burning glycerin really toxic or what?

Greetings,

I am trying to find out the enviornmental benefits/positives for the use of B100, B20 and SVO. I have seen diagrams/charts showing how much CO2 and other gasses various fuels produce. I guess I am looking for the fuel emmissions for the product alone, and possibly for the production. I could see that a gallon of gasoline may put out 10lbs of CO2 by it's combustion but how much energy does it take to make and what is the carbon footprint of that?

I found this, and I would like it for the bio fuels. I would like info on all the emissions of biofuels if possible.

CO2 Emissions from fuels
Fuel	lb/gal	kg/gal
Gasoline	19.4	8.8
Diesel	22.2	10.1

Can anyone help?
