Dave is quite new in here.
Current applications of biodiesel in cold environments

Does anyone know any real-life situations where there are large engines, preferably stationery power generators, using tallow biodiesel in a cold environment (less than -1C) for at least part of the year

Appreciate any help. Thanks,

Dave

Re: Current applications of biodiesel in cold environments

No, but it would be relatively simple to heat the fuel lines/IP/tank electrically for engines which are alowed to cool down, intentionally or otherwise.
A 2 tank conversion which allows shutdown on petroleum diesel may be a preferred option.
I cannot see any other issues which would differ from the use of petroleum diesel in such engines.

Regards,
Tony

Hi Dave , how is the jatropha?
I remember a proposal for tallow-based BD for power gen on King Island , Tasmania , in Bass Straight. Not sure if it happened.
Paul Martin of Grown Fuel was working on it.
