Obtaining WCO in Melbourne I just ordered a new Hyundai i30 Turbo Diesel specifically to run a bio on. I'm not expecting (or wanting) to run on 100% bio - but a 50/50 blend would be fine. Question is - I have approached two businesses for their waste oil. One business already has some old bloke that pays $30 for a 205ltr drum and the other business didnt want to sell or give it to me because he says he can be fined. ??? Is this true? Where is the best place to get used oil? Whats the best approach in asking businesses for their used oil? I'm new here - this is a virgin post - so be nice.

Re: Obtaining WCO in Melbourne Keep on asking around, thats really all you can do! I find small businesses are less targetted by big companies, and businessed that have recently changed hands. If you can get in before anyone else and keep a good relationship then your in with a chance. As for approach, be yourself, explain what your doing with it, and do it after you'ce just spent money at their establishment. Continue to do so and compliment the meal so that they see your gratitude. Never heard of people being fined...

Re: Obtaining WCO in Melbourne You might try the shopping plazas. The fast food shops there have a dump on site that the put their oil in. This is then sold to whoever by the shopping plaza. If the fast food shop agrees you could do a drum transfer and pick it up from their door. This is good for you Cheers Chaos

Re: Obtaining WCO in Melbourne The trick is to find a large number of small users - don't go for fish & chip shops - go for small restaurants, bistros - places that aren't in a major eating area. Just keep asking. Melbourne has about 2 million places that use oil I reckon - just keep trying..
