Biodiesel plant and algae farm in Townsville

This week the Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh, announced $166,000 in government funding for a biodiesel plant and algae farm in Townsville, which would produce about 290 million tonnes of biodiesel by 2010.

zero to 290 million tons in two years !!!... WOW

Re: Biodiesel plant and algae farm in Townsville

This is great news but as usual News Papers seem to missreport everything.

$166,000 is to try to find an algae suitable for the process. That's a very long way from producing the first litre of algae oil and even further from producing biodiesel.

But at least it is a step in the right direction and good to see someone actually spending on development in this area.
