Help with "Red Blend" Cooking oil

Hi

I have been sniffing out a potential oil source and notice they have been using 20L drums of the brand Red Blend. THe drums are a reddish colour.

Just wondering if anyone knows what this might be composed of? Is it likely to be an animal fat, perhaps with some veg oil? Im leaning towards it probably being a fat but just wanted to know so I could think of the best strategy for collection before approaching them??

Cheers

Do you mean RED BAND? If so it is animal fats. Usually solidified at normal temps but will make good bio for warmer days.
Collection should not be a problem if they put it back in the original drums. Just need to sit them on a gas ring to warm up a bit so you can pump into your reactor.

That is about the same as the question, "How long is a bit of string?"
It will depend entirly on the operator. Some places seem to change one fryer per day and others may only change once a week. It will depend on how good they are at managing temperature control and how much the filter the oil during use.
Easiest way is go in, buy a feed and ask them. Then look after them by taking all their oil and maybe even cleaning the storage area. If you collect more than you can use, put a note on the forum and I am sure others will take a bit of your excess.
Thing is most places will probably produce more than you need but someone else may come along and cut you out and new supplies are getting much harder to find these days.
