Smile Nissan Patrol GU Series 6

Hi I have a Nissan Patrol GU Series 6 Common Rail Diesel 3.0 Litre. I have been told that under no circumstances to use Bio Diesel as it was distroy the 3.0 Litre motor. Apparently it worked fine in the 4.2Litre but disasterous in the 3 Litre.

Can anyone advise me on this? and any recommendations?

Re: common rail and biodiesel

Rowdy,
Who said that and what was their relationship with you or your vehicle?
Alternatively, In what capacity were they advising you?

I have not heard of biodiesel wrecking engines.

I have heard that some fuel system components may not be compatable with biodiesel, but no damage to the engine itself.

Is that the 4 cyl 3.0 Litre engine?

Regards,
Tony

Re: Nissan Patrol GU Series 6

It is not biodiesel that destroys the nissan 4 cyl 3 litre in the late GUs.
The engine self destructs. What a ridiculous proposition to replace their bulletproof 4.2 litre 6 with a fragile 3 litre 4. Nissan went up to 4.8 litres with their petrol engine in the patrol but lost the plot with the diesel.
Toyota went the other way from a 4.2 litre 6 to a 4.5 litre V8 (twin turbo).
Diehard nissan dieselers are just hanging on to their older 6 cylinder patrols and hoping that nissan will see sense and put a 6 in a new patrol.
Recomendations? Yes, trade it on a 2007 4.2 turbo intercooled patrol and get into biodiesel.

Cool Re: Nissan Patrol GU Series 6

My friend has just bought his second 3 ltr Nissan Patrol diesel - Some people will not learn.
Yes, you are right, the old 4.2 ltr is great (my son has 2 and swears by them).

My friend bought his 3 ltr in January, completed only 8,000 kms and has not got anywhere near the fuel economy or power advertised. He tows a 20 foot caravan. Nissan can not work out the reason. They wont change the computer, wont admit it is the vehicle's fault and continually blame his driving. He has asked them to give him permission to add a new chip to the computer at his expense. He is waiting for an answer. He also has to use fossil fuel, no matter how dirty it is, instead of alternate fuels. He has bought a lemon as it has other faults as well.
