Testing of Biodiesel is not to one single standard. There several qualities of the fuel, all of which have individual specific limits. One machine cannot possibly test for all these attributes at once. Attached is a typical test result from the lab:

I reckon around 12 of those items could be done with a single analysis on an Atomic Absorbtion Spectrophotometer, probably about 4 other bits of apparatus would probably cover the rest. It's been over 10 years since I've operated in a lab, with all this new computer technology, I reckon the fuel companies just have a machine they stick the samples in and the computers does the rest.

Excellent letter matey, hope that it is actually absorbed trouble is the politicians are some what misguided in the belief that they should be serving themselves not the public,
hopefully me midnight bio-oil mate hasn't been in the job long enough to get tainted by that.
I have above indicated some type'o's in the letter, hope you don't mind and i think your p.c. is set up for u.s. english ( naughty computer) as it allowed you to write penalized instead of penalised ( i suggest a stern talking to) apart from that it's spot on hits the right notes, and should appeal to anyone with a sense of right,
Would you think that in light of the governments nanny state stance it would be prudent to suggest that anyone producing bio maybe does a short tafe course in order to standardise the manufacture A, the set-up of the tools used to produce bio (tanks,pumps, elements etc) and the safe handling and storage of chemicals or would this play into their hands somewhat?
Although no expert myself i think a 44 gallon drum with an electric drill suspended above it, bathed in meth vapours is asking for a drama,(as see previously)
What i am suggesting although again i realise we are open to interpret the production of bio upon personal needs financial constraints etc
Would a standardised approach save us being left open from attack if it was government indorsed?
Or maybe a collective of aussies bio producers compile a standard an online freely accessable pamphlet, on the safe handling of products self governing show's a sense of a serious intent and maturity and professionalism.

to have any sort of REAL effect, you'll probly need the affor-mentioned petion attached..... an on-line style one most likely effective... maybe even mention it to the 'Get-up' group (GetUp! - Action For Australia - www.getup.org.au). They'd most likely get behind it, being an 'environmental issue'

You might want to include the affor-mention petion with that letter for it to have any real effect... the group GetUp (GetUp! - Action For Australia - www.getup.org.au) do online petions & mail-outs for that sorta stuff.
