Police cop a load from macca's

All we need is macca's to offer this service here and another source bites the dust grrrrr!

McDonald's to power police cars
  • July 30, 2008 - 7:03AM
Police in the Philippines are looking to convert their patrol cars to run on a mixture of diesel and used cooking oil from McDonald's, officials and the company said on Tuesday.
With oil prices at crippling highs, the project would convert cars in the Makati financial district of Manila to run on a mix of 40 per cent diesel and 60 per cent cooking oil, police chief Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz said.
Used cooking oil will be donated by Makati outlets of the hamburger giant, said McDonald's franchising manager Buth Salaya.
Other restaurants are also considering donating their used cooking oil as well, Cruz said.
One police car has been converted to use the diesel/cooking oil mixture and is already in use, and the government is studying how viable it is to convert more vehicles.
"It's a win-win situation for us because we will both benefit," Cruz said. "The cooking oil of their Makati stores will be re-used and the Makati police will use it as a component for their biodiesel and also save money."
The head of police forces in the capital Manila, Geary Barias, said that if the project is successful, he may recommend it being adopted by police forces across the Philippines.

Re: Police cop a load from macca's

quit ur crying!!! if the police are using bio fuel mabie that will hold off on another tax increase. here in texas the dot is complaining that they are going to be short on the budget this year because the price of fuel is making it cost prohibitave to travel, and on top of that they are paying the fuel for their cruisers. now having said that, the state inspection sticker in texas has gone up from 12.50$ to 14.50$ within the last year. how much longer do u think the state will keep eating the cost of fuel and diminished fuel taxes before they start hiking taxes on other things, ie- road taxes on vehicle registrations, fuel taxes(dont say so what on the fuel taxes!!! everything that u use in ur home is transported to u some way that involves fuel, from food to toilet paper, to the parts that u used to make ur bio station!!!)sales tax taxes on utilitys you name it there is a tax on it somewhere for the feds, state, and municipal governments.

mate not quite with you who's crying????
if all forces use or produce bio it will increase the potential purchase cost and diminish the availability, also as bio becomes more widely known about /produced it has knock on effects food price increases, etc its a short term fix for a long term drama,we as a species reproduce too well, are greedy as, and our only predator will be oil it would seem if the logic that we turn crops into fuel then we won't be able to sustain the population.
I love the concept of bio i only wished i had got into it years ago

Re: Police cop a load from macca's

i can agree to the fact that using cooking oil is a short term fix. the supplier that i have for used oil is telling me that the price of his oil has gone up 200% in the last year. that can be attribuited to many things, not the least of whitch is the use of our crops for fuel. but when i see a entity using wvo to make bd with i cannot complain because they are taking a waste roduct and making it benificial again + they are bringing their vehicle emmisions closer to carbon neutral. now that is not to say that all the government entitys should go out and start hitting up mcdonalds and burger king for their waste oil, i would rather have some of that for my use!! but i dont see any reason to complain because one police dept decided to use wvo bd in their vehicles.
