GL's Push-Pull processor

Here's the latest development from the UK's No.1 Biodiesel homebrew guru, Graham Laming.

To quote Graham's words:

Quote:
It allows you to recover methanol from biodiesel and glycerol immediately after the reaction, without having to separate the two.

It limits back reaction by first neutralizing the catalyst, and then distilling under reduced pressure and temperature.

No water washing needed, not even 5% prewash.

Glycerol separation is within seconds after the de-meth cycle, when the pump is switched off.

An anti-foaming trap is included to minimise methanol contamination.

I developed a vacuum system specially for de-watering and distillation, which is also included.

Re: GL's Push-Pull processor

Hi mate,

You'd not want to see it! Really!

The prototype was as rough as heck, but proved a point.

I'm making a new one in a more ordered style, now I know the required layout. I'm taking photos of each stage, so will have the complete story, from start to finish, ready in a week or two. Work and family commitments may extend that.

I'm building it using a 47kg propane gas tank, good for around 70 litres of biodiesel.

Cheers

Graham

Re: GL's Push-Pull processor

Gday, I don't know if your 47 kg propane gas bottle is the same as ours but our gas bottle known as a 100 lb holds 110 litres of water when full.I felt better when it was full of water before i attacked it with the angle grinder.regards Westwinds
