Re: Bubble washing

Gudday Alan - I think that is a film of Glycerine.

I mist wash first - 2 nozzles about 6 hours over 160L in a 200L drum - just til the fuel starts to clear, then I fill her up with clean water and bubble for about 24 hours - I call it polishing!

The film usually falls out or vanishes through the process.

Nothing to worry about.

Cheers

Re: Bubble washing

Agree with Paul. I bubble wash also and get a film, it falls to the bottom of the wash tank once the methanol is out of the bio.

I don't see how it could be glycerine. Don't you find the glycerine at the bottom after you let the reaction settle?

Re: Bubble washing

The film on top is due to the soaps, held in solution by methanol in the biodiesel, coming out of solution as the methanol evaporates.

The skin breaks up and settles to the bottom of the container.

Regards,
Tony
