Titration test

Hi all, after my last post , just a follow up I performed the titration test again on my wvo 3 times and each time came up with 1.5 .
1st question does this seem too low a number?
2nd question is going in .5ml increments ok or should I go to .1ml?

I am getting used to the titration method now and just trying to get it right before doing a 80L batch, have done quite a few 500 ml batches so am getting the hang of it.
Thanks heaps for all the info so far.

Re: Titration test

Sounds like you have the "good oil"
How are your half litre batches turning out?

Tony

Re: Titration test

All test batches 6,7,&8 naoh are all good they cloud a bit overnight then clear by midmorning, the 9g of koh is a little bit cloudy but I did mix that one with the blender 10g of koh same as the naoh tests slightly cloudy when cool and clearing during the day. Are the .5ml tests ok or should I go finer? The oil I,m getting is from my brothers fish and chip shop he religously changes it every Tuesday and it looks good enough to bring home and use in our cooking.
Thanks once again for your replys.

Re: Titration test

When I titrate
I use a 3ml syringe marked out in 0.1ml graduations.
So I titrate to 0.1

If you want very high conversion biodiesel, if in doubt use more rather than less

Re: Titration test

Hello Mark

In biodiesel speak, "conversion" means what % of your fuel is methyl esters. Your fuel can be a mixture of Tri, Di, and mono Glycerides as well as methyl esters (Biodiesel)
ASTM quality biodiesel is about 98% methyl esters
