| I have been toying with a mini batch and tried to water wash using a PET bottle. The rinse water seperated to the bottom but has a lot of bubbles in it. The middle layer has a type of white scum in it. And the top layer looks to be biodiesel. The percentages are 47% bio on top 6% middle layer 47% water on bottom Anyone had an idea to what I'm looking at and if the biodiesel is okay to use? |

| Re: White scum after water washing??? I've just been doing the same thing and yours sounds normal. The white scum is emulsion from a bit to much agitation i think you'll find. Just empty the water and emulsion(scum) out and wash again (very gently for 2 or 3 washes, then with more agitation) Eventually you'll get clear water at the bottom. Probably a good idea if I point you to my post where tilly helped me here: http://www.biofuelsforum.com/making_...nightmare.html Last edited by marcfell; 10th August 2008 at 08:58 AM.
