| First timer!
Hey people! I have just been introduced to the concept of making biodiesel but after overloading myself with too much information! I'm bloody confused. Can anyone please provide some help inrelation to making a biodiesel kit?? or making biodiesel. The processor kits on the market are to expensive and I believe once I understand the concept I will be able to make a processor myself. Any help and information will be much apprichiated. Kind regards, Sandz |

Exactly right on. You can make a processor your self. How much it will cost it up to you in as much as how complicated you want to go. Now to ease the brain overload here is some bedtime reading for you. This site, will give you lots of stuff worth considering. Please bookmark for future referance. |

Gday Sandz,A lot of bio makers keep themselves under the radar for a number of reasons. However if you can find someone who is making a batch and watch them do it you will find making bio a lot easier to understand.regards westwinds

| Re: First timer! Agree westwinds, Sandz I was in the same spot, and when I sought out a maker and saw what it was I became more confident to have a go. Some of the mystery went. I'm north of Melb and I am happy to help you out if I can, No expert but successfully using, and helped alot by this forum. Cheers Brenden

| Re: First timer!
Welcome to the biodiesel game! I made a processor entirely of scrap and discarded 20litre cans, and use a power drill with a paint stirrer to do the mixing (lid with small holes for the stirrer and thermometer). I run a fan across my workspace to disperse the potentially dangerous vapours so I'm not breathing them, and to minimise the risk of ignition. I have near enough to zero chemical knowledge, and have taken the kindly advice of people like Peda on this forum, to get started. I have purchased a portable electric hob to do the heating, measuring flasks, eye droppers, and a thermometer, some scales, and very little else. Rough estimate - cost of about $70. So I can make a 20litre (all up) batch. Output - circa 16-17 litres of BD. |
