Let us know how it goes with the methanol pumping please as i am looking for a better way to move mine around. Would be particularly interested if the gauge is accurate when pumping methanol and if it will suck out of the bottom of a standing 44

Not sure that would be a good idea.

This pump looks good for bio and oil but being its not designed to use witha high volatility fuel I would not use it for such a job.

It is sometimes better to pay for the right tool to do the job.
Somebody prove me wrong here by all means because I too looked at this pump but only for Bio.

Methanol pumps would and should have greater spark protection than this little chinese number.

I think the whole Methanol flashing into a fireball is highly overrated. As long as sensible precautions are taken - do it outside, not in an enclosed area (i certainly hope no one here is storing a 44 of methanol in their garden shed !!), do not place the pump on top of the drum etc then i would like someone to point me to a factual account of methanol flashing off ?

I can understand idiots turning on elements etc with nothing in the processor and things catching fire, but decanting methanol and the fumes flashing off - i am not so sure.

On another forum some idiot suggested not using a gear pump to move methanol as the gears could overheat and setup a "China Syndrome" reaction.

But thanks for the word of caution Michael.

WVO - Used Canola Oil - for Biodiesel 20L Drums
                      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WVO-Used-...item1c39758e57

I have been collecting WVO for my project and currently have more than I can use so some has to go. $5 per drum. Up to about 1500L available. Pickup from Warburton. Enquiries 0466273881

I haven't yet tried it so I don't know how hydrogenated it is. It's unfiltered, still in the drums I collected it in.
