  1. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

Paul. What you have is fine for as long as you like to have it that way.
Do you have a second fuel filter for the veggie oil? If not the main fuel filter can clog up enough that the diesel will not...

    Re: series 60 brakes.

If there is only one rear brake flexible hose, it should affect both rear brakes
Most vehicles have separate circuits for rear brakes. If this is the case one may be blocked, which could be the real...

    Re: 5W50 or 10w50 or 20W50

You could simply have a solenoid which is connected to the Ignition switch (for a petrol engine) or to the starter motor for a diesel. With a diesel a NRV in parallel with the solenoid would allow...

    Re: Getting together

Mate I would love to come, but its just too far for me, even if I could get my fuel along the way it would take me a week for the round trip LOL

The French do too. If you do not step onto the train before departure time, then you have missed the train.

    Re: 5W50 or 10w50 or 20W50

I use these as oil transfer pumps. I have found them reliable and move plenty of oil. They can deliver a high pressure in low flow applications.
As it will run for about a minute at cold starts,...

    Re: 5W50 or 10w50 or 20W50

I have not researched this application, but there are 12V gear pumps which I use to shift WVO around. I feel that they would work well as they can deliver at pressure, can move a lot of oil and they...

    Re: 5W50 or 10w50 or 20W50

You have the basics of it 'down pat'.
For a worn engine, go for higher viscosity, both cold and hot.
eg a 20W50 oil is better for an old engine. I believe that you are better off with an old...

    Re: washing with heat

    Cade,
Good to see you are back experimenting with your bio.
Even better to see that you have recognised some of the risks associated with this experiment.
What I would like to identify is the...
  11. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

    Perolin,
As you can see, there are different ways of achieving the same end. Some require more effort than others, some cost more, some less. some provide additional benefits (eg priming).
    The...
  12. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

    Paul,
You should consider installing a new fuel line in 12 mm pipe for the veggie oil. This will significantly reduce friction losses for the oil on its way to the new fuel filter. You should be...
  13. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

    The Cause:
Using veggie oil will kill off any 'diesel bug' in your fuel tank and the dead bug will go into the fuel filter (& strainer).
If it has got to the fuel filter (I think that it has) then...

    Re: IP Adjustments

I found that the procedure is in several sections of 1F3-44, but page 1F3-45 is the easiest to find (although it relates to using an electronic timing device), the bolt locations and adjustment nut...

Where are the injection setting instructions? I had a look and couldn't find them. I tried searching for text, but it looks like the pdf is of a scanned document.

  23. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

    83 Patrol,
I was aware of the rotary IP but not of the Direct Injection.
The IP will handle a 10% blend without heating the fuel.
The main concern is that it is a DI engine and that shutdown on...
  24. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

That is not what 83 Patrol wrote.
I have only had indirect injection diesel engines with inline IP and they are fine on 10% start in Summer (more in Winter) so I cannot advise based on my experience...
  25. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

Mark, I have been using Blended WVO in a 1 tank system without heating or flushing the system for over 6 years with no impact on the engines of the cars I have had in that time.
    Try 10% ULP in your...
