    Re: Waste Oil Market Cornered?

    Well that wasn't so hard.

It all came back to me. Found a small quality cafe, bought a coffee and then all the old phrases came back to me.

    Simple.

Re: Been away - what's changed?

    Thanks Tony,

Like you I remember the early days when cold oil was assumed to automatically lead to ring coking.

It would be good to look a the evidence after all these years.

Re: Been away - what's changed?

    Thanks Tony,

Do you use any supplementary fuel heating in the Musso?

Have you heard of the old issues of ring coking coming up with blending?

    Waste Oil Market Cornered?

It seems everywhere I look lately WVO is collected by large scale "free" commercial operators.

    The blue '44 brigade.

Is there anywhere these guys don't dominate?

Re: Been away - what's changed?

    Thanks Tony and Wesley,

Blending sounds interesting now there is a better knowledgebase.

Can blending get "good enough" to replace BD (for older vehicles)? Does it replace the need for some...

    Been away - what's changed?

    Hi everyone,

I have been off the scene for a few years after moving house.

I have just dug out the old gear and it takes me back to the good times so I am thinking of getting back into it. ...

    Fitting Taps to Poly Drums

    Hi,

Does anyone know how to properly drill and fit a brass tap to a large (250L) poly drum (where there is no existing fitting)? Thanks.

Re: Tips for getting solid fats out of 20L drums

You would create a massive vacuum under the fat block as you try and pull it up. This may break the handle off. If I was going to do this, I would make sure the drum had some sort of plug near the...

Re: Tips for getting solid fats out of 20L drums

When I tried working with solid oils, I once made a "Hot Rod" using a solid (not wire) kettle element attached to a length of PVC pipe. I sealed it all up with silicone with the cord running up the...

    Re: Landrover 300tdi

I have always understood the need for a two tank system for SVO. I just don't think the 300tdi should be singled out as an exceptionally bad DI. Plenty of people seem to have run them on 2 tanks...

Don't be too hasty, that information is not web garbage. It is actually from the official Landrover 300tdi Manual, which says:

I did follow that other post once but it seemed to get lost on the wrong pump issues.

    Re: The Sound of Drums

OK, some weight on top seems to help.

Another question though - given all the pressure build up, can you lease a 3/4" pvc cubee tap in the drum bunghole or will it blow out under pressure?

    Re: The Sound of Drums

I think I'll try the S bend but the dimensions are pretty important as I don't want any of the "fluid" (water I suppose) being sucked into the methanol. Any ideas? Is the brewer's one a little small...

It is the 3am one that annoys the neighbours. I thought there might be a valve or something thqat could be fitted that would not release all the meth vapour during the day.

    Methanol (and air).

One idea is to get up at 3 am after it has popped and open and close the bung but this might lead to excess pressure in the daytime?

    The Sound of Drums

My 44 gal drum goes pop around 3 am each morning as the temperature changes and it contracts. Do they make a pressure relief valve to stop this happening?
