  2. Oil Supply available - Bayswater WA

I now have too much oil! My 2 suppliers are supplying a fair bit more used cooking oil than I can use.
I currently have around 1000L of filtered oil, ready to use and about 360L of oil, yet to be...

    Did anyone notice?

Last night, I had difficulty in accessing the biofuelsforum.com website. I asked Tim-HJ-61, and he had the same issue.
The Site owner (Robert) has investigated, and while he couldn't see any...

  7. Re: how to clean dirty oil containers

I use misfuel (petrol / diesel mix that some fool had to get taken out of his diesel tank). I put about 500mL of it into the container, put the lid on and agitate a lot to loosen it all. I open and...
  8. Sticky: Re: Members willing to share oil with travelling members

Please remember, this thread is for members to offer oil to traveling members, NOT to ask for oil.
Posts asking for oil will be moved or deleted!
  9. Re: Filter blocking in less than 100k

Unfortunately, the way it is written, it is confusing. If it is not looped, you will get hot fuel returning to the tank.
  10. Re: Filter blocking in less than 100k

    grytvikken,
    1. If the tank was left for 3 months, it may have succumbed to some microbial activity, causing the issues you are now having. Alga's advice is spot on, if leaving the vehicle for a long...

    Re: Glycerol composition.

Less byproduct may indicate greater yield, but what about quality?
Byproduct = Glycerol, soaps, residual methanol, unused caustic, water (from the reaction) and other contaminants in the oil.
    What...

Re: terrano dying after a few k's

    Cade,
I do not know what room there is in a Terrano for mounting the pusher pump at the tank, so I suggested putting it back where Artrix installed it. If there is plenty of room at the fuel tank,...

Re: terrano dying after a few k's

    Artrix,
What he is suggesting is that you temporarily relocate the fuel pump to the fuel line leaving the fuel tank. Then run the pump for at least 30 min to check for fuel leaks from the fuel...
  15. Re: Glycerol / glycerine / biodiesel byproduct as rust inhibitor?

    I know what you mean.
  16. Re: Glycerol / glycerine / biodiesel byproduct as rust inhibitor?

I believe that petroleum waxes are more water repellent than vegetable oils.
  17. Re: Glycerol / glycerine / biodiesel byproduct as rust inhibitor?

I know that oil and bio degrade rubber and some plastics, but I have not heard of anything similar from byproduct.
Do you have some metal and old seals you could try it out on? I a send you a rusty...

dagwill, I am pretty sure it is a mechanically controlled IP. I can't recall for sure but I have an impression it is an inline pump.

Re: terrano dying after a few k's

It may be time to get a couple of litres of diesel and run hoses from the diesel can to the fuel pump and take the return line to the diesel can. Use long hoses and a passenger to hold the hoses in...

Re: terrano dying after a few k's

I have used clear plastic tubing on my 300D as return line hose. It worked well on WVO for a year then was so hard that it snapped where vibration caused the hose to move. Use it while testing and...

    Re: Glycerol composition.

The NaOH will dissolve rapidly in water at 20C. The water will get to over 50C easily.

  25. Re: Nissan 3.0ltr Patrol , has sub tank. Computer stops 2 tank system.

With the DI diesels you really need to purge well. I agree that a startup/purge tank in the engine bay would be a good option.
I believe that Tim has a similar engine, why don't you contact him...
