Re: Members willing to share oil with travelling members

Same as limoman, collect oil along the road and filter it as you go. You can either get filter bags, use those supermarket green or blue re-usable bags, or if you have a trailer, carry a centrifuge....

Re: Filter blocking in less than 100k

Not really a drama, just a learning experience.

Thanks Tony, didn't notice that stuff up. Looped fuel returns work so much better with VO, especially if you have an engine that has a big fuel flow...

Re: Filter blocking in less than 100k

Had a bit of a problem like this years ago, when using petrol as a blend, but don't think it was the petrol blend or whether it contributed to the problem. Never had a problem since switching to dino...

Re: How do I plumb in a heat exchanger?

Mark, had the same problem as you with the main filter. Now can flush the lines in a minute and having looped the return line and added ball valves, can control where fuel comes from and goes. So...

Re: terrano dying after a few k's

All my vehicles have the push pump near the tank, except for the new series 80 cruiser. There is nowhere to put it with the dual tank setup, so like Artrix, have put it at the firewall and you can...
  6. Re: Glycerol / glycerine / biodiesel byproduct as rust inhibitor?

Straight veggie oil may be better for a rust inhibitor, BD is a great cleaner and takes oil out of concrete quite well. On my boat where veggie has spilled, leaked or whatever on metal there is no...

    Re: Been a While

Love the Buick, does it run in veggie and has a V8 diesel. Does it have a dickie seat in the back, a friend of my grandmother had one with a dickie seat and us kids rode in there. Was pretty young at...

Re: terrano dying after a few k's

Artrix, if you want some clear hose in your system, try 12mm food grade nylon hose. Have that in all my vehicles, it replaces the 8-10mm metal fuel lines from tank to as close to the engine as...

Re: terrano dying after a few k's

Had a problem like this on my canter truck, tried everything including re plumbing, putting air through the system draining the tank and nothing worked. Turns out the new main fuel filter was a dud...
  10. Re: Nissan 3.0ltr Patrol , has sub tank. Computer stops 2 tank system.

Tim has a 12ht engine, which I have 2 and they are inline pumps, not rotary. Haven't had any problems with 12ht, but this cruiser is a rotary pump. Yesterday redid the plumbing, now it has a purge...

    Re: oil/petrol blend question

There have been many discussions over the years regarding blending with petrol or dino, everyone seems to have their own idea's and experiences. Personally, use dino/bd for thinning vo, seen to many...
  12. Re: Nissan 3.0ltr Patrol , has sub tank. Computer stops 2 tank system.

G'day Tony, this is the first vehicle, other than a triton which is Di/rotary pump that have run on vo. So far have discovered it won't run when I loop the return, which would solve the problem. So...
  13. Re: Nissan 3.0ltr Patrol , has sub tank. Computer stops 2 tank system.

Have a series 60 cruiser with the same sort of twin tank setup, but no computer and I put a starter tank in it. Same with my series 80 cruiser just converted, it has twin tanks and a complicated...

Re: How do I plumb in a heat exchanger?

This how I've set up my 1hdt, much different to how I've done others and will need a few runs to prove itself and remove any problems. So far have done over 100klms on it with no problems, but...

    Re: WVO Upflow Design ok?

Have you thought about using a VO centrifuge, it takes out everything including water, can fit just about anywhere, no filters and if your budget can afford it at the beginning, it is extremely cost...

Re: How do I plumb in a heat exchanger?

You'd get a better result if you put a "T" into the heater and had a direct flow to the HE, then use another "T" to reconnect the heater after the HE. You'd get much more heat in the HE and when you...

Re: How do I plumb in a heat exchanger?

Is the second HE for hot water, or the vo, If it's for the vo, you could be wasting your time, as the vo will only get as hot as the water from the engine. Know someone who uses a double barrel HE...

Re: How do I plumb in a heat exchanger?

I run the heated water from the engine directly to the HE, then back to the car heater inlet. If you use a T, you may find you only get a good supply of hot water when the car heater is switched off...

Re: How do I plumb in a heat exchanger?

Re: How do I plumb in a heat exchanger?

The idea is to have the HE as close to the main filter as possible and plumb it in before it goes into the heater. Have my inline filters after the HE and as close to the change over valve as...

Re: Pre Heating WVO before injector pump

Re: Pre Heating WVO before injector pump

Like myself and others, all our vo fuel lines are 12mm to the HE and the franz was on the 12mm lines. My 1hdt cruiser has 10mm fuel lines standard, so haven't changed them. The shorter your fuel run...

Re: Pre Heating WVO before injector pump

My helton HE's, contain,120ml of vo,measured it to see what distance had to travel to fully purge. But still travel at least 12klms on dino/BD to make sure the system is pretty clean of vo.

    Know...
