  1. Re: Glycerol / glycerine / biodiesel byproduct as rust inhibitor?

I know that oil and bio degrade rubber and some plastics, but I have not heard of anything similar from byproduct.
Do you have some metal and old seals you could try it out on? I a send you a rusty...

dagwill, I am pretty sure it is a mechanically controlled IP. I can't recall for sure but I have an impression it is an inline pump.

Re: terrano dying after a few k's

It may be time to get a couple of litres of diesel and run hoses from the diesel can to the fuel pump and take the return line to the diesel can. Use long hoses and a passenger to hold the hoses in...

Re: terrano dying after a few k's

I have used clear plastic tubing on my 300D as return line hose. It worked well on WVO for a year then was so hard that it snapped where vibration caused the hose to move. Use it while testing and...

    Re: Glycerol composition.

The NaOH will dissolve rapidly in water at 20C. The water will get to over 50C easily.
I make soap and can testify that this reaction is quite exothermic. It does not need to be any hotter than...

    Re: oil/petrol blend question

I have made a lot of mistakes in the past 17 years using veggie oil and since joining this forum I have learned a lot more from the contributors here.
  9. Re: Nissan 3.0ltr Patrol , has sub tank. Computer stops 2 tank system.

With the DI diesels you really need to purge well. I agree that a startup/purge tank in the engine bay would be a good option.
I believe that Tim has a similar engine, why don't you contact him...

    Re: oil/petrol blend question

The issues that I suspect will limit your blend are:
    1. Vapour lock - With too much petrol on the fuel, you will have difficulty with hot starting. The petrol vapourises in the injectors, lines and...

    Re: Glycerol composition.

Smithw, I would recommend against mixing the NaOH (or KOH) with boiling water. Mixed with cold water, the caustic will raise the temperature of the water to over 50C.
If you use boiling water, you...
  12. Re: Nissan 3.0ltr Patrol , has sub tank. Computer stops 2 tank system.

Alga, Why not just have a single changeover valve in the fuel supply line valve in the fuel supply line. When shutting down, run the engine on the startup (purge) tank for a couple of minutes. All...

I wonder if the piston pump type of primer on that filter can be replaced by the newer Black push plunger primer?

You have the right to your opinion. I know that Alexander sells kits and ECU updates across the world for cars, heavy vehicles and stationary diesel engines. He wouldn't be so successful if he didn't...

Re: BD use in Common Rail engines

The re-mapping is no more expensive and likely to be less expensive than many of the performance re-mapping done to CRD vehicles. The fueling is optimised for WVO, but the engine will still run well...

Why bother using biodiesel when Alexander Noac of Grease energy has kits and ECU mapping to run CRD engines on straight vegetable oil.

Re: Heating the house with bio

Yes, burns a fair bit of WVO - with about 10% misfuel (petrol drained from a diesel tank) to help reignition.
We used about 800L this year and we were toasty warm.
We never leave burning when we...

Re: Heating the house with bio

The Demon heater is unflued and should not be used in a non-ventilated space. In WA they are no longer allowed to be used in workshops due to the emissions causing health issues.
