  1. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

Yes I reckon blending is by far and away the better option to all the mucking around involved with an SVO setup. I've only done it on one vehicle (a W124 Merc) and it worked a treat. I wouldn't do it...
  2. Re: looking at converting my 2002 Landcruiser with 1HZ engine to WVO

This is just my opinion, but don't do it. Have a look at this thread http://www.biofuelsforum.com/threads/11611-Problems-with-1HDT-on-SVO

I had been making bio and running it on all my vehicles...

Re: Problems with 1HDT on SVO

Problem is fixed. Replaced the IP with an exchange unit, upgraded to be compatible with an upgraded turbo, and the problem disappeared, but I still don't know why. Then again, I didn't know what was...

    What's wrong with Mercedes transmissions?

I own three Mercs, and two of them are undriveable:

    1. 2000 W220 S320 (UK import), OM613 motor, 150K on the clock. Running perfectly

    2. 1998 W210 E300. OM 606 motor. 287K on the clock....

Re: Problems with 1HDT on SVO

Yes - it was done by Carmine at Dynamic Automotives up in Balcatta - he's got a 80 series himself - he knows them inside out. When I say it didn't cut off, I mean it almost did. When you turned it...

Re: Problems with 1HDT on SVO

Now the plot thickens even further. Having dismantled the pump, I am told by Kim from Total Fuel in Balcatta that there was metal in it, although he couldn't see where it came from.

    It's a...
  8. Re: For Sale: W210 Merc with OM613 engine (UK Import)

Price 7K. You're getting a lot of car for your money
  9. For Sale: W210 E300 Merc with OM606 engine

The car is registered and in good running order, with the exception that the transmission is stuck in first gear. From what I can tell a rebuild on these is worth around 4K.

    I'm selling it as is,...

Re: Problems with 1HDT on SVO

The plot thickens. The cutoff solenoid has been replaced but the engine is still running on when the ignition is turned off. So it's off for a full IP rebuild. Funny thing is that I never had these...

Re: Reduced oil temperature in reactor ?

One more thing that I've noticed - with the previous ratio of 100:15 for the MeO I was getting a bit of a smoky exhaust when the engine was idling when cold (with my Merc). With the new ratio of...

    Re: Outstanding pre-filter performance

My experience is that some filters, particularly the cheap paper ones, clog with SVO even if it's clean.

Re: Problems with 1HDT on SVO

No I'm just going to get the shutoff valve fixed if that's the only problem. The guy I use has a jig that can test them. There are some things in life that I'm prepared to pay people to do, and...

Re: Problems with 1HDT on SVO

No I'm afraid I haven't been able to find out much information about ATF at all - plenty of information about the additives, but nothing about the base oil. Anyhow it seems to run OK so I'll give it...
  16. Sticky: Tell us about your common rail diesel on B100

Let's make a list of common rail vehicles on B100, along with any foibles or problems that may arise:
    Here's mine:

    Mercedes OM613 (W210 E320 and W220 S320).

    Absolutely faultless, with no...

Re: Problems with 1HDT on SVO

Well, fair enough, but I'm having difficulty seeing why I should run it in my engine. I found one bloke on Google that apparently runs his powerstroke on used ATF (90%). Apparently it doesn't burn as...

Yep, and we all know who you're referring to, don't we? Feels as though he has to comment on absolutely everything, and takes it personally if anyone disagrees with him. Dunno what his problem is (I...

Re: how to clean dirty oil containers

Caustic won't ruin the plastic. What I do is tip the drum on its side on the bonnet of the car, put the hose on jet stream and squirt as much out of it as you can. Then tip a bit of caustic in, fill...

Re: Reduced oil temperature in reactor ?

Done some quantitative measurements on this:

The vol% of my MeOH is about 17%. (20/120). After conversion, this equates to about 22% (v/v) glycerol. I never did any quantitative measurements with...
