Re: Bio Sludge in fuel tank

I don't know whether it was "microbial" or "algal" - I don't know enough about microbiology to classify it. All I know is that it was biological in nature. There are thousands, possibly millions, of...

    Cheap Methanol in Perth

I have come across a cheap source of Methanol. It's off-spec, and was written off as waste by the manufacturer (Manildra)

I don't know what specs it doesn't meet - it certainly looks and smells...

Re: Bio Sludge in fuel tank

I knew the stuff I had was algal because of its response to caustic soda. If you treat black mould in your shower recess with oven cleaner (caustic soda) it lifts off the surface and assumes a...

Re: Bio Sludge in fuel tank

Very interesting - I'd suggest that the BD goes off quicker in metal than plastic because it acts as a heterogenous catalyst.

To add to my further comments, there are two differences between...

Sticky: Re: The Warnqvest Test and re-processing

Yes that's a fair point - I hadn't considered that. I've only ever used liquid WVO

Re: Bio Sludge in fuel tank

Yes in most cases it is glycerine, but not every case. This stuff was most certainly biological in nature (I had some sitting in the bottom of my Frantz and did some tests on it). Why it formed in my...

Sticky: Re: The Warnqvest Test and re-processing

This test is completely unnecessary. You are making fuel, not a pure laboratory product. Using biodiesel, instead of WVO, is all about viscosity. The efficiency of conversion is therefore immaterial...

Re: Alternative IP pump priming methods

What he said. Ditch the standard filter and replace it with almost any aftermarket system. I personally use a Frantz 1um system. And both the Walbro (FRB51 I think) and facet pumps work well,...

Re: Bio Sludge in fuel tank

I'll just do shorter posts. The black slime is biomass, the ultimate product of using a fuel that is biological in nature. Only car I've ever had it happen on was my Triton for reasons that are as...

    Re: Problem with Pug

It's the HDI. The bloke that I sold it to, who apparently knew a lot about them, said the turbo was gone. Makes sense - it ran fine up until the tuurbo came on boost and that's when the problems...

Re: Bio Sludge in fuel tank

Who set up this forum? I composed a long and detailed reply, and I know what the black stuff is and what to do about it, but when I attempted to post it, I was told that I had to refresh and log in...

    Re: 1hz injector pump rebuild

I just left it as it was. It was running fine so if it ain't broke don't fix it. But it meant that I had to carry a spare pump with me just in case

Sticky: Re: Which Vehicles do NOT have DPF fitted

You probably need to change the title to "DPF or Catalytic Converter". My Mazda BT50 had a cat that gummed up with BD. The beauty of cats is that they are normally easier to remove than DPFs as there...

    Re: Mazda B2500 Low power

This is your lucky day. I have a BT50 and it had the exact same problem that you described.

Take it to an exhaust place and get them to remove the catalytic converter. It doesn't have any...

    Re: 1hz injector pump rebuild

Not sure this is right. Years ago my fisrt BD car was a 1HZ. After a few months the IP karked it and I sent it to a mob in Qld to get it rebuilt with Viton seals. When I got it back it didn't quite...

    Problem with Pug

I have a problem with my Peugeot 406 that is probably BD induced.

I had been running it for a couple of months on B100 and it was running fine. Then I had to put it into my mechanic for a new...

    Re: methoxide bulk mixing ?

Yeah that's about the concentration I use, and the MeOH actually boils.

Not sure why he's making up so much at once, but remember that the solution is unstable, probably due to carbonation. That...

Re: How long to hold reactor at 55deg

Actually it doesn't even need to be heated to 55 degrees at all (according to tillyftromparadise on another thread). Tilly from paradise assures us that it will proceed even if it has been placed in...

Then why do you heat it? Heating is an extra step that requires extra hardware and costs money.

Re: 2 Stage process - dropout calculation

You haven't answered these questions, Tillyfromparadise. Why would that be?
  22. Re: You don't need to heat your WVO to make biodiesel

Why not? If it will proceed at room temperature (like my method does) why would you heat it? Better still, why don't you post a YouTube clip of your method, which shows us that it will proceed at...
  23. Re: Setting up a commercial BD manufacturing facility

Yeah that was the idea - make the bio for a company that uses a lot of trucks and stuff. I'll email you and see if I can have a chat to him. My enquiries so far have come up with the fact that supply...
  24. Re: Setting up a commercial BD manufacturing facility

It depends how much you are using. By definition a catalyst speeds up the reaction rate. With my method it goes to completion in a few minutes.

Can you please tell me the purpose of this post?
