Geoff Bragg - on this forum has a 92 Rodeo Turbo Diesel running on SVO.
I think he is happy with it.
Geewizztoo - Triton.
Navara (Nissan), Ford courier/mazda bravo other possibilities if you want a ute. Hilux Surf (4runner) is good if you want a wagon smaller than Landcruiser/Patrol size.
Any others? If you think of any ask here to see if anyone has tried it.
Afterthought: SsangYong Musso, Fititan has converted at least 1 of them. they are cheap and a good prospect with the 5 cyl mercedes diesel engine.
Good luck with choosing.

Re: Denso Pump

Getting back to the basics of vehicle selection, has anyone noticed that the number of postings regarding Mercedes vs the rest run at probably 1 to 10 or even more?

I am assuming that once converted from this that the Mercedes run trouble free and their owners happily run around on WVO and don't need to post queries to the forum. There is also so much information on the Mercedes conversion/s on the internet and they seem easy to convert and reliable once converted.

Maybe these are what Felix called the mobile museums

Re: Denso Pump

I've got a HJ60 with a 2H engine which has been running on veggie for the last 86000 and except for water in my fuel at one stage it performs beautifully. I've even put of rebuilding the engine(480000klms) because it runs so well, I use a 3 way ball valve, single coil barrel HE and insulated fuel lines with an in line filter between the valve and the fuel pump. My start tank is a 2'2 lt old motor mower tank mounted in the engine bay. Having excess fuel return to the pump means it maintains fuel temps, but doesn't heat the oil in the tank.

It depends on what you want your vehicle for which would determine the kind you buy. I agree if yo want to chug round cities and go for country trips, then merc's seem to be the go. But if you want a work horse or adventurer, you have many choices, but fir grunt and reliability its hard to go past cruisers, except if you can pick up a Nissan 3.3 turbo diesel, they were the best most balanced diesel ever built in my opinion.

Smile Re: Denso Pump

The Denso pump on the 1HDT must have a pressure relief valve as I mixed a batch of WCO and the bottom of the injector pump was leaking my Bio everywhere. Since than I have added more Meth and this stopped happening the motor runs quieter and smother and at 14psi it is crackin love it pure and simple motoring
