| pusher pumps
guys. i have a 2 tank system in my hilux. 3x 20 ltr poly drums in the tray, which is gravity fed to the front. so far this has worked ok. just recently tho i have had a few hiccups with air in the system, probably caused by me trying out new things with the fuel supply lines, and it has caused me NO end of greif. i now want to put in a pusher pump, wired directly from the pollack valve, placed near the WVO tanks, so that everytime i change a filter or do something with the supply lines, i can bleed the sysstem better, also to help out the IP. what i am asking now is, who has one and what type of pump is it? i have heard all about walpro pumps, but, i see that most are high powered pumps and push a lot of fuel thru, i dont wish to overload the ip with too much pressure, just in case the seals cant handle it, and i dont want to plumb in anything extra, like surge tanks etc. i have seen on ebay, some pumps that may handle the oil, but how much pressure is too much? would something like a 4/6 psi pump as shown work ok? any advise please.. cheers H1K ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP P10 PSI: 4-6 / Flow GPH: 25 Replaces Airtex: E2019, E8304 Universal Type Application. If you use rubber mounts, the noise does not transmit to the vehicle body and it is relatively silent in operation. I hope this helps Tony

Hobie1 I think you are building in unneccesary complication by adding a pusher pump to asystem which is perfectly capable of working 100% effectively without one. You have a Hilux with I would guess a VE type IP with an integral vane pump. This should lift fuel from a low mounted tank at the rear and you are only asking it to draw fuel from above tray level. If you are getting air problems then perhaps you need to find the air leak. Yeah not as easy as it sounds I know, Try putting your tank/cubie under a little bit of pressure with a hand pump or something (just 2 or 3 psi). The leak should then show itself. I used to use cubies as fuel tank and I know that they run out quicker than you like and then you get air in the line. I have a way of dealing with that simply. I have clear tops on my filter housings and a vacuum line connected with a clear line. I can lift the bonnet press a button and the air is gone.

One possibility would be to mount a water trap type filter upside down. On vege they are useless at removing water anyway, may be messy changing the filter

H1K, if you do go down the route of the pusher pump, have a look at BjBlasters site SVO - The Swirl Tank He uses a shurflo pump that works perfectly for him regards Craig
