    Stopped collecting oil.

Yes I have stopped collecting oil. I have quite a lot in "stock", some partly filtered and in storage and some in drums - unfiltered as yet.
I will keep filtering and using, Guess I have a couple of years stock to filter and use.
My son's hilux died (nothing to do with vege oil) and we flogged it off and he now has a LPG fuelled car. I am not doing as many trips up and down the F3 and so we are not using anything like the amount of fuel that we did previously.
I have been finding that all the collecting, settling, filtering etc. is using up just too much of my time. I have been neglecting other parts of my life so I am cutting down by stopping the collecting and slowing down on the processing.
I have a large stock of the thicker stuff that I settle/cold filter out - all in 20 litre steel drums. I am told it is ideal for making Biodiesel, told by one of my suppliers who makes bio himself. He does however have enough for the rest of his life (he reckons) which is why he became a supplier to me - giving me what he was collecting from his supply shops.
So this is available to anyone who wants it - the thick stuff that is.
If I can't find anyone who wants it I guess I will have to give it to one of the commercial waste cooking oil collectors.
Reckon I have about 160 x 20 litre drums of it, about 3000 litres.

    Re: Stopped collecting oil.

Sorry guys - I didn't tell you where I am. Had a PM from a member in Wollongong asking.
I am on the western shore of Lake Macquarie, just South of Newcastle.
Guess that restricts to Newcastle and Central Coast.
I will deliver to Newcastle and/or Central Coast. It will take a few trips with my box trailer so I don't want to deliver beyond that.

Can relate to this. Have a landcruiser still off the road, a merc which has a blown head gasket (I hope, or its ) and another which is getting harder and harder to start. Now own 2 petrol cars, will aim to loose one when I get a few diesel ones sorted out.
Until then I am contemplating telling the one place of work I need a car to . and I will be able to ride most places I need to go, keeping me fit and not needing to pay for fuel, or needing to collect oil
Of course then what would I do in the shed?

    Hey Nuddy,

I am happy to take all of your thicker stuff for my Lister Generator.

I am almost to the stage of laying the slab for it.

I am happy to drive to newcastle and pick this up (but will take a few trips in my trailer.)

I have been going up to coffs to collect Lard from Murf - so this will be a walk in the park !!

I can pick up around 40 drums at a time.

Are you in a rush to get rid of it all or could i pick up over a couple of months ?

    regards

I have sent PM to Craig. Had no reply from him.

Now I have been contacted by surfdiesel:
"Is the oil still available as I can have it collected."

I don't know if he is going to take the lot in one go or many trips with a trailer. Have PM'd surfdiesel.

That's the current 'state of play' - it is still available at this time.

    Re: Stopped collecting oil.

Nice to meet Craig today. He took 40 drums of thick stuff. Thanks for that Craig.
Hopefully Surfdiesel will take the rest in a week or two.

    Re: Stopped collecting oil.

Nice catching up with you as well. let me know if Surf Diesel has any dramas - the trip being as quick as it is i am happy to do some more if he can not take it soon

How did you go with the solar panels - all up and pumping power to the grid now ?

Really should be a steel/mesh cage for the XANTREX to make sure they do not go walkabout
