Wanted: Reactor / Washer

hi
Does anyone have a prebuilt reactor / washer for sale in the greater Sydney region? I am not looking for a professionally made unit, a proven & faithful appleseed type unit will do.
My current usage is about 100 litres per week.
I'm contactable directly - rogpol@telstra.com

Thanks

I forum member called Oily (I think) was selling a system based on upturned gas bottles about a year ago. Don't know if he still is but he might be worth a PM.

Re: Wanted: Reactor / Washer

Hi, Thanks for that....
If I could receive a quotation which overs base components, or includes a pic or two, that would be a great start.
Its a little hard to put a value on something which is not specified up front. I must admit that the professional units ex Brisbane and Melb are a little out of our budget.

cheers

Is there a reason why you don't just go ahead and build a reactor yourself?

Re: Wanted: Reactor / Washer

hey guys i'm a friend of oiley's. last time we spoke he said that he no longer wishes to make anymore processors. (He's got a lot of hobbies). This is a real shame as i thought they were great but only did 70L batches so not suitable for your requirements i guess. ahve a go mate its not hard .

This being the case, I would strongly suggest you read a LOT about bio making before attempting it. It is a relatively safe and straightforward process but has many traps for those whom aren't of a DIY mentality I feel.

I would suggest that makeing ones own reactor would go a long way in educating a person about what they are doing, what they are trying to achieve and what the potential dangers are. Every reactor I have seen has a number of valves to control the process and unless one understands exactly what each of these do and how they affect the process, at best they will stuff the operation and at worst could create a distinct danger to themselves and others.

If a person isn't able to screw together something as simple as a reactor, I have to say I'm not all together sure attempting to make Bio themselves with something they had to get someone else to engineer for them is all together a particularly wise thing.

Re: Wanted: Reactor / Washer

I agree. Building the reactor is the easy (and fun) bit. Getting the biodiesel right, with the correct mixture of WVO, chemicals and temps etc is the hard part. Then you want to be 100% confident in the end result before you put it in your vehicle if you don't want to risk stuffing up the injectors.

So if you're not up to building your own you might be better to go down to the Biodiesel station in Marrickville and fill up straight from there.

You can get plenty of advice (and photos) on here and other forums, and you can come and see my setup if you want some design ideas. I'm in Berowra.
