    What's wrong with Mercedes transmissions?

I own three Mercs, and two of them are undriveable:

    1. 2000 W220 S320 (UK import), OM613 motor, 150K on the clock. Running perfectly

    2. 1998 W210 E300. OM 606 motor. 287K on the clock. Transmission won't change out of first gear. Guy at shop said it might be fixable for $1100, but wouldn't know until I spent the money. Not worth fixing, Trying to sellit for $3K for the engine

    3. 2003 W210 E320. OM613 motor. 272K on clock. (UK import). Driving it yesterday, took off from the lights - almighty KERTHUMP from the transmission and it stopped. Now just makes a weird whirring noise and is undriveable. Not sure what to do it because it was otherwise such a good car.

What's the point of having the best diesel motor ever built if the transmissions are made of spaghetti?

    NOT HAPPY JAN!!!!

It is Fiat transmissions that are made of spaghetti- the Mercedes Benz transmissions are made of Sauerkraut!
