Where to buy synthetic diesel fuel lines in Melbourne??

Hi All,

I want to start running my 1979 diesel VW Golf on Biodiesel, and seeing as the fuel system is broken at the moment (I'm changing my injector pump which died last week) I thought I would change all the fuel lines to synthetic (vitron is the type I have seen mentioned a few times).

I went down to Repco this afternoon but was met with blank faces!! I want to do the job myself, so does anyone know where I can get synthetic diesel fuel lines in Melbourne???

Thanks very much,
Huw

Try an Enzed or Pirtek store, should be a couple in the phone book.

Viton is a synthetic material used in molded parts, such as O-Rings, Seals and Carb seats. I don't think you'll find hoses in the stuff. There are plenty of other Synthetic hoses available.

Try the purple pig[listed in phone book] they specialize in hoses for all types of chemicals

The stuff you're after is called Ortac - it's a red, chemically resistant rubber that is perfect for bio. Not sure where you'd get it in Melb tho' - I've just had it fitted on my 80 here in NSW with stuff that I got from a mob called Blackwoods - not sure whether they're in Melb.

BTW, nylon is no good because altho it's chemically resistant, it's not flexible enough and doesn't seal well enough.

Blackwoods do have an outlet in Melbourne.
Might have to get there myself.

Re: Where to buy synthetic diesel fuel lines in Melbourne??

This issue still not solved?
Use polyurethane hose. Looks like a bluish clear PVC , but wont harden , so stays flexible and "squishy " under clamps. BD hasnt affected some I've had in BD for years.
From Pirtek or Enzed , but only sold in 50m rolls ( e.g. @ $5/m 10mmID ), so maybe a group buy is in order.
Another option is a black "rubbery" hose with stainless steel wire armoured outer , very sexy, very exy.Cant remember where I got it , will search grey matter for that.
Ortac product specs say that red stuff is butyl rubber - synthetic yes , BD proof NO. Anyone really vouch for it ?

John

Don't know if this hose is suitable... <LINK to EBay>

I recently bought 100m for my factory air lines, $61 + postage.

12mm O.D.
8mm I.D.
