Question Diesel Mechanic - North

Can any one reccommend a diesel mechanic on the north side of the river?

I bought a 94 Hilux 2.8l about a month ago. Currrently running fossil, but keen to make the switch as soon as I can find some real fuel.

Thing is she is currently blowing a fair bit of black smoke and using alot of fuel (12.8l per 100km) so I would like to get her tuned before making the switch.

Can anyone point me to a BD sympathetic diesel mechanic?

Cheers
Nick

hi nic, sounds like your injectors are had it, look on e bay for injectors and replace them, then just run bio, easy. i have a 2.8 and started to blow a bit of smoke when pulling then started to use bio , no smoke and better km per lt . my hilux is standard and runs very well on b50 ,good luck
thanks jeff

Re: Diesel Mechanic - North

Yeah I thought that might be it, but it has done 270,000 and i have no idea of it's service history, wouldn't mind having someone who knows what they are doing take a look at the valve clearances and timing.

I also need someone to fix a threaded filler plug on the transfer case and remove a bloody strange filler plug on the gearbox. That and it needs a full grease as well. Just looking for an honest mechanic to do the stuff that is a pain for me to do while the beast is parked infront of our rented Fitzroy terrace.

You're right though.. i can do the injectors myself, just looking for someone to tell me what to do... being a bit of a newby.

Nick
