Melbourne Biodiesel Club.

The Melbourne Biodiesel club, is a group of BioDiesel enthusiasts keen about making and burning in our cars BD. primarily out of concern for the environment and Global climate change created by burning fossil fuel.
We have a goal of becoming a Site Group (without prejudice) of the CERES environment park.
To have a neutral meeting space /club house and reactor plant.
We would like to create an "open plan Kitchen" style plant building so that school children and adults can observe from a safe distance under a viewing gallery the reacting of biodiesel from Waste Veg oil. (environmentaly concerned recycling).
We are also interested in creating what Paul Martin would call "A University of Biodiesel", with acreditation for people/members who are educated in making BD at the plant. "A Chef de Biodiesel". So ultimatly to promote the use of Biodiesel. And to activly do something positive about global climate change. And not be a part of the ADDICTION TO OIL.

Hi All.

Ok, So its been confirmed , we will be having a club reaction
meeting/training day on Saturday the 21st of January at 10 am for
11am. 'till when we finish.
If you have any WVO bring it along. For credit.
If you have none and are not a member/regular be prepared to pay a
small fee, say ($25.00) . If you would like to slap something on the
barby bring that along also, No alcohol 'till after the work is done
and the shed cleaned up.
If you are a new comer , a big part of the training is OH&S, and we
recommend you bring safety goggles, and good gloves. and wear sloppy
cloths. Anybody with the poor excuse of not getting their hands
dirty because of having nice cloths on, will be given a manky old
pair of club overalls.
For details (where??) email me direct.
Cheers DAZ.

UPDATE on reaction meet.
Poor ol' Steve has one of those Neighbours, You Know the Mrs Cravitz
types that insists she saw Steve riding a broom.
The idea of having a BBQ at the meet has been canned, so strike off
the last post, "Bring something to slap on the Barby."
Yeah we are still having a meet, just no meat. Same time, same day i.e.
next Saturday.
Mrs Cravitz called the MFB to the last Barby Steve lit and they found
the Plant in the Garage, They have given a firm warning to Steve like
only Firer’s can.
So We May need a new , more appropriate home for the club soon.

This brings up moreover the importance of attending the next general
meeting. It has been confirmed as Wednesday the 22nd of February at 7pm
for 7.30 start, at the CERES lecture/training room. I will post rough
agenda soon. Anybody wanting something on the agenda please post it up
or email me direct.
, Cheers DAZ.

Re: Melbourne Biodiesel Club.

I've just posted up 2 new events in the calendar (good to have some events again ) for these 2 dates. The advantage to using the calendar is that everyone can see the upcoming events on the bottom of the main forum page. You can also request email reminders of events, but I'll let you guys work that out. If anyone else has any events to announce in the future, post a thread about it for the info, then also enter it in the calendar and link to it.

Cheers,

Re: Melbourne Biodiesel Club.

Hi

As a new member I have obviously missed the recent Melbourne activities, but am interested in participating in future ones, and having access to members' excess production.

I may also have some interest from a colleague who likes the idea of retailing Bio Diesel in the future.

Cheers.

Re: Melbourne Biodiesel Club.

G'day Darren mate,

I have just posted a couple of ideas I threw together for stickers at:
http://www.biofuelsforum.com/showthr...=1777#post1777

Unfortunately I no-longer have a vinyl printer cutter so I can only cut lettering, or backgrounds, in vinyl but I can print the picture on my full colour laser printer. Anyway mate, have a look and lets have your views...good or bad

Bill from Corio...still working on getting another diesel

Re: Melbourne Biodiesel Club.

Ahoy there,
Just joined in the other day from a little way away in the highlands of sunny Daylesford, ha! Might be a bit hard for me to attend meets down there in the flat-lands so a thousand thanks to all concerned for getting these forums up and running. The only thing I can offer at present for LR Freelander owners is access to original workshop manuals for 2001 models. As like all you veterans did, I'm on the ground below the bottom rung of a very exciting and hopefully lucrative ladder to 'forever'. So let's keep up those cumulative man (or to be politically correct), person hours for a brighter, cheaper, less smelly, happy dieselling future! All those petrol-heads, eat your hearts out.
Cast off

G'day Darren,
You can cancel the above offer as I have sold "all" my remaining business equipment...every single last piece, so I can no-longer cut vinyl lettering or create full colour labels/stickers.
I used some of the cash from the sale to buy a beaut Land Rover TDi (one previous owner) that has been so well cared for it's a credit to the previous owner (a retired Cat' Diesel fitter). I've never seen such well kept vehicle maintenance records since I left the navy!
I've also found a 250 Litre hot water service (at last) so once the buyer of the business equipment removes all the gear from my workshop (he has already paid me for it) I can start making a home for my biodiesel reactor and other requirements for making biodiesel...then I have to get to some club meeting and get some hands on experience on making biodiesel.

Cheers mates.

Bill from Corio…kando

Re: Melbourne Biodiesel Club.

Hi All ,
Ok its a goer.(Saturday the 29th of July) Its confirmed the Environment Room, the building behind the fire circle at CERES, is the site of the upcoming MBDC social and informal meeting. All are welcome.
The Programme is as follows. Note: times may vary on the day, so be there early if you only wish to visit one item on the programme.
1. 9 am. Market stall setup for those wishing to buy, sell, trade or swap reactor components, vessels or plumbing. A shelter and table will be supplied and set up near the fire circle, and hopefully will attract people down the lane from the existing CERES Saturday morning Organic Market. Also pure glycerine soap products will be available, and copies of Paul Martin’s How To Manual. Volunteers will be needed throughout the day to staff the Market stall, so if you’re bringing along something to sell be prepared to spend some time with the bum bag on.
2. 10.30 am. Paul Martin public speaking about “The History of Biodiesel in Australia”.
3. 11.00 am. Titration workshop with Paul Martin and Darren Coughran. So bring along your WVO samples and learn the science of measuring the Free Fatty Acid content of used cooking oil. This is necessary for the successful reaction of making biodiesel from waste vegetable oils. Paul will be showing people his tried and tested method of titration, while Darren will introduce the cheap and cheerful method of using Turmeric as an indicator solution, and we can all look at the deviations in results. Just for fun we could do a group report for the CERES Organic Café’s deep fry contents.
4. 12.00 am. LUNCH, with a vego friendly BBQ, sausage sizzle and fund raiser for the MBDC. Volunteers to man the tongs will be needed on the day so if you’re a control freak or pyromaniac or just have experience wearing the floppy white hat, please put your hands up on the day.
5. 1.00 pm. SPECIAL SPEAKER Michael O'Connell President ATA - Alternative Technology Association. Publishers of ReNew and Sanctuary magazines, will be speaking about the issues of parliamentary legislation that affects Biodiesel users and producers: the Excise issues, the "level playing field " oxymoron of Costello’s,, Industry take-up and anything else you may like to talk about. Many of our members, and particularly rural people, really want to know where they stand with excise issues, and feel very much in the dark. There will be time given for questions and answers so be prepared with notes in hand. This section may run over time. How can lobby groups effect change in the Government.????
6. 3.00 pm. Why join a Club?? “THE VISION” . Public Speaking and facilitation of dialogue by Darren Coughran about the vision of MBDC and becoming (without prejudice) a site group of CERES. Invited public speakers representing the administration of CERES, and Open Forum. Development of an incorporated body.
7. 4.00 pm. Richard Tye Speaks of “How to make pure Glycerin Soap”. Richard will conduct for those interested a hands on workshop of how to make soap, and members of the MBDC will donate Glycerin for soap manufacturing on the day.
8. 5.00 pm. Introduction of a special guest from India. A Jatropha Grower may (unconfirmed at this time) publicly speak of the benefits of growing Jatropha on low grade land for virgin vegetable oil feed stock for the biodiesel industry. This gentleman is interested to speak to Victorian rural land managers. Any one with educated arguments against Jatropha are invited to comment.
9. 6.00 pm. Social engagement of all and sundry, relight the BBQ and fire circle and let the amber merriment flow.
