| Hi All Ok let's see how this is going to work There is something very interesting in this forum, MOST hits are where do I BUY biodiesel Besides, a fair amount of mail is concerned with that question amongst us So here is something that I am willing to do (It only occured to me Today) Here is the situation We have available two underground fuel tanks of fair capacity I will be willing to get them cleaned install certified fuel pumps and make 100% biodiesel available to users of this forum We have not at this stage considered blending but it is not out of the question (I only got the idea today) The reason for the post is to assess the interest as well as establish some kind of volume so I can negotiate a price for the biodiesel The premises are just of Ballarrat Road easily accessable It is not a Service station the tanks are on an industrial site The biodiesel is manufactured in Melbourne from a mixture of WVO as well as VO The outfit is well geared up with a lab in house as well so the fuel meets ASTM std (I am told they are willing to provide certified test's) I cannot at this stage talk about prices as these people want to know qty prior to offering a price Given sufficient interest as well as qty I am of the view that we can have Biodiesel available within a few weeks So all of you out there put your hands up and give us a an idea of what you would using let's say on a weekly basis or whatever period you feel suits you This does not mean a commitment by any one All we are trying to do is get some idea of the demand out there from people that do not make their own That way we can get some no's for the supplier as well as the logistics We can then see if this is going to work out for all concerned I think that about a week should be enough for expression of interest as most of us are fairly regular here So Lets see!!! | Re: Who is Willing to buy Biodiesel in Melbournes West Musso Sounds good I will keep you posted As you can see as much as people are suggesting they cannot obtain the stuff this post has been up for a few days now and the response has been rather dissapointing May be we should invite people that have a quick look as to where to get the stuff to join this forum I suspect that they are not subscribers to this forum I also suspect that it is where most of the hits come from Any way I had a meeting with the supplier to day and we explored the possibility of supplying biodiesel in 20 litre pails I will be talking to couriers tommorrow to see what it would cost for delivery around Melb for a 20 L plastic pail Someone suggested that they will deliver it for about $5.00 per pail If it works, well that may be the way to go what is your view? Thanks for the reply Cheers Chris |

| Re: Who is Willing to buy Biodiesel in Melbournes West Darren I posted the idea up so as to inform myself as to what potential is there Not much interest is shown so far to the Idea What qty would you use? may be you throw the idea amongst your circle of biodiesel users I only had three replies including yours I guess it may amount to about 4-500 Litres per week hardly makes economic sense It does not justify the expense of having an outlet manned I just have to wait a little longer to see how it pans out I would have thought that at somewhere at 4000 Litres a week would be a break even point at say 15 cents per litre mark up, that would just pay the pump attendant for say 30 hours per week May be the whole idea is a non runner or may be I just do it making biodiesel available say Saturday and Sunday I have to buy the stuff at 7.5 tonne lots about 8000 litres So far that would be sitting around for 10 weeks if I include my own use That is the minimum qty to purchase so as to make it a reasonable alternative priceways to dino diesel Thanks for the reply If it gets closer to some reasonable qty I will do it, as it stands at the moment is a no goer Cheers Chris |

| Re: Who is Willing to buy Biodiesel in Melbournes West Hi Chris, Care to share the price per litre on 8 thousand litres,? thats eight pallecons, or a large industrial site tank? email me direct if you want to keep it private. OR another idea,, on the day of the club meet , i dont think it would be hard to move one pallecon (1000ltrs) broken up into 44's or 20lt carbuoys. hope to see you there,, Darren. |

| Re: Who is Willing to buy Biodiesel in Melbournes West Hi Chris Just to let you know it took me ages to stumble across this site. I dont think this forum would be the way to go to find out about consumer demand. Compared to diesel commuters i dont think your getting the same traffic through this site to be made aware of its availabilty. Would the biodiesel you sell be cheaper than petro diesel?? If so im sure you would have more interest than the 3 replys! I know i would go a little out of my way to get it. There has to be a better way to find out the demand!! Cheers |

That is a good idea I will investigate it and will be in touch I believe it can be done Should I be looking to get the carboys or would people bring them along? Let's see how that is going to work out If it works out ok we may be able to repeat it The price will be right if I can get the numbers right Cheers Chris |

Point taken, I think you may be on the mark Any suggestions? other than this site. In so far as the question of price, There would be a price differential The suppliers come manufacturers I am talking to, have a variable price, it depends on the feedstock If they get enough WVO it is priced lower than if they are using new oil There is a slight benefit on price on product made from new oil a substantial one if it is made from WVO They also use tallow which has a further price advantage but they are not confident in selling that openly although they supply it to a user in bulk who knows how to handle the fuel They don't seem to be able to get consistency as well as a low enough cloud point even though it is good biodiesel They need 30 tonne of feedstock to run the plant for a day ( 6 hours) so it all depends It appears to me that they prefer to run with WVO as new oil such as canola is a bit on the high side of the price equation for any substantial saving It is not generally appreciated that to make a batch or two or dozens for that matter for your own use is not really a big issue as you can adjust your inputs according to the characteristics of the raw material It is a completely different story if you are a commercial producer where you have to have consistency of finished product This is further complicated by running a continuous rather than a batch type process a necessity so as to make it a viable enterprise Any way that is how it stands at the moment Any other suggestions to gauge demand would be appreciated, keep in mind that I am interested in promoting the use of biofuels not running a servo Cheers Chris |
