  • Poor Service from this Forum

Many of you may have noticed how appallingly slow this forum has been lately and you may have also noticed long periods where it has been completely unavailable, or has timed out after you click on something.

I am having some problems with the host that it is on at the moment. They seem to be sharing the server with too many others and they have reduced the amount of CPU that I am allocated, but will not tell me the limit. Instead, they are now simply suspending queries from this site that they say are taking too much CPU. My complaints about this have resulted in them offering me a premium package which costs a lot extra per month.

This forum does not make enough revenue from its ads, or in donation from some members to cover the costs of better hosting, so I'll have to shop around and maybe migrate the site to another host soon that is not so crowded. Please bear with the outages and slowness in the mean time. I will work to minimise them and eventually eliminate them, but it may be a while.

Re: Poor Service from this Forum

    Robert,
Ity took a fair time for me to be able to access the forum tonight. Usually this is not the case.
Are they winding back your CPU time to push you towards the more expensive package?

Re: Poor Service from this Forum

      Rob,

Do not get too heated up about it, you offer this as is to all that come and seek advice, and use it freely. Good service is one thing, doing it for nix is another.

People, be patient, Rob does most of this off his own back for our benefit show a little tolerance, give it some latitude and lay back and relax a bit.

Off my soap box but the sentiment is genuine so back to bio and oil and good night. As far as hosting elsewhere we all need to help out, if you know of a bargain then please venture the offer.
