I am about to buy some KOH $65 for 25kg (92%)
Is there any different Saftey, quality or storage considerations when using
Potassium hydroxide compared with sodium hydroxide?
The lady at the chemical supplier told me that KOH is more Dangerous than NaOH can anyone verify this?

P.S I am already aware that I will have to use more than the standard amount of KOH because it is only 92%

Thanks to anyone who replies back!
    cheers

    Re: Koh

Potassium Hydroxide dissolves quicker in water and reacts more violently. The fumes are more pungent and it generates more heat. Also tends to splash a bit more adding to oil. All minimised with gradual addition of it to water.
Same safety gear applies- suppose depends on what you normally wear, huh.
Quality? Do you mean quality in result rather than actual chemical?
    Storage same airtight containers.
You may know, quantity to use differs from NaOH.
    Just my take on it.
Nice price even despite the reduced %. Local supplier?

    Fowlchick.

      Hello Luke,
Where are you buying KOH for $65 for 25kg?

Because the KOH is 92% purity you will have to adjust the base amount per litre WVO from 7g to 7.6g per litre.
Make the titration fluid from the KOH and you will not need to adjust the titration number.

          Re: Koh

I was quoted $80 including GST.
Of course I would only use it to make liquid soap and clean out my drains
