  • The Birds are Gone

Gday, I make my bio in a 13 metre by 10 metre gable roof shed that had sparrows nesting between the timber under the ridge capping. I have built a new reactor and i have not connected a pipe yet to vent the fumes to outside the building.I noticed today the birds have left the building.I presume the birds would be sentisive to methanol like canaries were used in coal mines to detect bad air. After what happened at that Hunter Valley winery yesterday i will vent my reactor before i make another batch.Regards Westwinds

Birds usually start nesting at the beginning of Spring. It could be that the young have reached the age to leave the nest.

I wish the fumes from my setup would get rid of wasps - one got me yesterday, from a huge nest with lots of others in it. I hadn't seen it growing there, but sadly for some, they are all dead now, and it isn't from methanol fumes, more like Baygon fumes!
