Hi folks,

I'm selling a 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300D TurboDiesel. I bought this car a year and a half ago to run on biodiesel, but family issues have caused me to ditch those plans and sell the car. I bought it in a suburb of Philadelphia and promptly drove it all the way home to St. Louis with no problems whatsoever. The car only has 99,xxx original miles and will probably last for hundreds of thousands more. It is also in excellent physical condition for its age. It is white with only minor scratches and dings. Nothing is missing, absolutely no rust, etc. The paint still looks great, too. The dark blue interior is immaculate... no cracks in the dash, seats, etc. All are in very good condition. I added a new Alpine MP3 stereo system that can connect your iPhone, iPod, or other USB device. Like most of the 300Ds, this one gets great gas mileage... upper 20s in the city and around 35 mpg on the highway. Once again, it was never converted for vegoil or made ready for biodiesel, but that's easy enough to do for anyone interested. It's rare to see one of these cars with this low mileage and in this great shape, so I don't expect it to be on the market long, and I would love for someone interested in biodiesel and/or SVO to get it. The car is centrally located in St. Louis, Missouri.

I'm asking $6,000 for this car.

Please contact me at kopper65 (at) gmail.com or call and leave me a message at (314) 266-8472.

Thanks,
Jeff Kopp
St. Louis, Mo.

Never knew you are that greedy Tony :)

Six cylinders and still want it turboed?

Yeah, it's a pity. I'd probably be more inclined to keep it then. It goes pretty well for a 300D - faster than any other one I've driven, anyway. Better mileage, too - 18km per litre on highway.

My wife is jealous of my Turbodiesel.

I took her car to Klaus, my German, MB trained, mechanic because it had less power than a NA W123 300D. He found that the PO had maladjusted the IP.
2 days later and it runs like a dream.
Still not as fast as the Fatmobile though, but at least it goes up the hills well. As you know, we live around 2.5km up hill from the nearest town, so it was getting her down. now she is almost happy.

Now, how can I get a OM603 turbodiesel onto Oz?

Regards,
Tony

The OM603 isn't that the engine in the E300?

The OM603 is in theW124 300D, like the one you have. The E300 had the later OM606. I also saw a W124 with the later OM606 engine last year.

Thanks for your replay mate.

I never knew that the w124 came with a turbo OM606.

Did you see it in Australia?

I owned an E300 turbo charged at some stage. It was a super car compared to w123 300D and more flashy than w124 300D.

Thanks

Yeah, it was in Melbourne. I can't remember if it had a turbo or not. I don't think it did - maybe they were first introduced on the later W210 E300 diesel? Had 24 valves though, which I'm guessing would give it better performance than the OM603 with its 12 valves. I didn't get to drive it to find out, unfortunately. It was badged as an E300, in line with the other late W124's. Apparently a few W124's towards the end of production had the OM606 in them from factory.

EDIT: BTW, when I say "I saw", I didn't actually get to see it in person - I only got to see the ad with photo's and speak to the owner. I rang the day I saw it advertised and arranged a time for the next day to have a look at it, but the owner rang me as I was about to go and told me not to bother, as someone had just been around and bought it on the spot.

I drove a turbo-charged W210 E300 a couple of months ago. It definitely was a super-car compared to the W123, but compared to a good W124 300D I must admit that I was disappointed. Maybe the fact that, according to the service history, it quite often went for 30,000km between oil changes had something to do with that?!

There is e300 in melbourne for sale.

I rang the guy who owns it in the same day of the ad. He told me it is sold.

These cars are becoming rare item now.

Does anyone know how many e300 came to australia?
